OK enough reading for me, I was 5 days behind lol
Hi to all the newbies, Hi to all the rest as well! FT I too am enjoying your soap opera! and I too HATE those shows. lol
we have hatchlings! 11 'scovie duckling, 31 EE & leghorn/EE (yes i put my white and brown leghorn hens in with my EEs, just to see the result. lol) and I have 8, 3 week old silkies and not to mention the NOW 19, 6 week olds RIR/Del, silkie and EE/LH chicks that hatched right before the bash. I've been selling some of those chicks which is why I had to hatch more lol. I'm happy with the EE hatch, I set 45 eggs, 40 went into lockdown and 31 hatched. I'm not sure about 2 of the chicks though.... the last 2 that hatched, 1 looks like its got a hip problem and the other has a bely button problem??? IDK? I have someone who wants 15 of the EE when they are like 3-5 weeks old... How much do I charge for them at say 4 weeks old?? at 1 day old I charge $1.50 per chick.
IDK I'm VERY tired today and theres a muscle in my gut that hurts
we had DS7 bday party on Sat, when I set the EE eggs I didn't even think about the fact that they would be hatching his bday weekend. lol I had the EXTREME bator tv going on here. 90% of the people who where here on Sat. have never seen a chick hatch lol well they have NOW lol oh and I had lots of "Mamas" here.... "Amy that chick is having a hard time!" "ok, it will be fine." "Amy, the humidity is too low, Randy said it has to be...." "ok, please add water with the suringe" "When r u going to take them out?" later tonight when their done hatching" "sigh" lol
It was fun, watching all those people with their noses over the incubators lol I suspect there will be stories told to the people who couldn't make it here lol Im so glad my dads cousin came for the party, he had a great time.
I did have 1 die while hatching though?? there was yolk all over?? What happened?

I have to find me a pair of sandles that I can wear WITH OUT my feet hurting BAD!

Just wondering when PEOPLE (CC?) start planning for the mini, cute, petite Southern WI get together? No harm in planning ahead and setting a date and place...

I got nothing going on here. I am tired of the kids being home for summer.

MXM... I have a hard copy of Discovery of Witches if you want to borrow it? We could meet on the East side of Madison some morning soon for coffee or something? The next book in the series comes out July 10th I believe.

Carol stopped by this am and provided my broody with 3 eggs, one was my silkie egg that was in incubator and the other two are jaerhan or maran or mixes of those... and one was starting to peep and pip. Momma is happily growling at me when I open the door. Lets hope she takes to them. I think I will move a plastic kennel into the run for her and the babies to sleep in after they all hatch. I put food and water up in the coop with her, but scared the babies might fall down the ramp and not be able to get up or go without mom and someone attacks them. Who knows. Thinking that next weekend we will move our 12 week olds in. Boy will it be a little more crowded space. But full of love!

Add us to the list of those who finally got RAIN. 4am, lightning and thunder, and boy did it come down. Praise the Lord!

Well, the poor little grouse chicks have all passed. They dropped like flies, all gone within 36 hours.

Perhaps they were too stressed/shocked? That makes me sad, I would have liked to release them into our woods.

I got really behind on reading over the weekend, caught up now but too much to comment on. Sorry for lost birds and broken hearts, hope all the pups get good homes, and perfectly aghast at the latest installment of As the Stable Turns.

Last Friday we did the third best outdoor project on our property (chicken coop was #1, garden was #2

): we installed a beach on our pond!! Yesterday we had Julie and her girls over for swimming, and looking forward to many more private beach parties this summer. Next we're building a tiki bar for it.

Hot Afternoon All!
Good Gravy is it hot! Yuck times a million.....The wind is whipping...at least it's moving the heat around. Too bad it's not a cooler wind...Feels like I'm reliving my Cali Days....And here I thought I left the Santa Anna's back in Cali!!!
The plants all got a good drink and the garden it doing ok. The poor rabbits are none to happy. I keep dowsing them to keep them cool. I should go get their frozen water bottles....
My little house sparrows are all taking turns in the bird bath. I added some cool water to it and they are all swimming.....maybe they think their ducks...poor things.

The dogs are all sacked out on the new couch or right next to it, as close to the fan as they can get. I think this will be the last season for the window AC unit. It's been a good little unit...

Well, just checking in and sipping some water.....off I go....the bunnies need me!!

Afternoon All....don't feel bad Amy...it's proven that ruffed grouse won't live in captivity....that's why you can't buy them anywhere like pheasants. Not your fault for sure. Nice beach for sure.

We had a dead black java hen in the coop this morning....I'm blaming the roo....his days are numbered.

Storm coming...time to sign off for now.

on the broody momma front, one chick is out, it is a sweet little blue/grey color with white breast and tips to its wings. Momma seems to be ok with it! lets see if the others hatch. I think one was due on wednesday so we will see!
