Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good morning, Yes, Vickie, we are getting hit with storm #2 this morning.. the sat tv is out.. I am surprised this wireless computer is working.. the garden was not really damaged much except for a couple of wash outs.. some of the potato plants got covered with mud.. I won't be able to get into the garden for a couple of days to straighten things out..

by now, even the dry parts of the state should be well watered..

both dogs are outside.. IDK where they are hiding.. prolly under the deck.. the pups are in a pen..

I did not let the birds loose yet.. I will after the rain, in about a half an hour from now..

something dug a large hole next to the foundation of the guinea pen.. IDK if it was the chickens doing a dust bath, or a fox.. he can dig all he wants,, there is a concrete floor..

my front tractor tire has been going flat daily for the past few days.. slow leak.. I suspect a rusty valve stem.. so yesterday I doused it with WD40 before adding air.. we will see if that takes care of it.. I have a couple of valve stem tools around here somewhere.. I suppose I will end up at F&F buying another one..

I think I will cook a couple of eggs for breakfast... I am hungry..

So much more but it's gone. Time for B'fast!

Carol... update... egg number 2 is cheeping this am before I left for work. Tried to put food and water in the nest box with momma and baby... hope they use it!
Looks like a maran but could be a mutt. Lets hope the silkie egg hatches soon too! Didnt hear anything from that one. After all eggs hatch will move all to a plastic kennel in the run. If you need help with your 7 dozen order, let me know... although my girls are slacking, must be the heat.
Getting only 4 or 5 eggs a day where I was getting 8 or so a week ago. I know one broody is down, but the others need to get to work. I know I have 8 mature girls laying(except broody mama), one that should have started laying(8 months) but comb is still between red and pink. And then the silkie family. (one roo, one hen that does not lay and 2 laying hens... so about 5 eggs from the 2 of them a week)

We had a friend who did a "harvest" display with their neighbors last fall with dozens of pumpkins and a few squash and we took it after the holidays and I cooked and froze all the pumpkin meat. Pulled out one of the last bags today as a cool treat for the chickens. Not sure how long it will stay frozen in this weather.
Rain is missing us too BF4M... looks like those of you up north might get some storms today. Hoping for tomorrow night. Although I need to get in my gardens and weed good. Got 2 beds done and 2 small to go and then the giant one. Using fabric and cardboard to see what I can do. Need to get it done by Sunday when a friend and her family are coming in town. THey are making a big deal about what this former city girl can do with her chickens and garden. Gotta make it look good.
Stay cool everyone

Good Morning everyone. Its nice and humid here as well. The sky was pretty grey earlier but now not so much. I was hoping to get a good rain today to cool things down. I need to deep clean the kids room but I'm not doing it without rain lol I'll roast. I see there is talk about another meet up, I would be in for that as long as we have nothing going on. My blueberries are coming in nicely. Good thing I have multiple patches lol the chickens and ducks whiped out my patch by my driveway. I dont think there is one blueberry left. I wonder if they'll attach my huckleberries too when they ripen.

And yes Dr.H, things have totally calmed down after getting rid of the trouble makers. We still have 4 more I want gone but for now they'r behaving. DH says he'll do them this weekend as long as pick up more mosquito spray lol.

Kristi & Carol - Good luck with the babies

Jim - sorry to hear about the garden flooding. My garden spot last year flooded just *** everything was just coming up. I lost everything except 2 pea plants.

Sorry I know there was more, but I only have the one screen open and I cant remember the rest. I hope everyone stay cool today.

Good hot morning! Not a cloud here...DD26 says maybe some rain tonight? I sure hope so. I need to go out and water birds and plants yet and then off to work for a bit. I just might have to haul that real heavy window unit in here soon. It is still bearable as long as you just sit and do nothing else but who can get by with that?
Congrats on the new babies...nice video DVG! My terrier was cocking her head at the screen looking for the chicken!

Well, took me so long to catch up so I have to go get stuff done here...Talk later--stay cool! Terri O

Well it is another rainy day in Superior. The ground is wet and we can't get anything into the garden, and now the army worms are in full force and have killed all of our bucket plant except for a few tomatoes. Now comes the struggle to decide what can we get into the ground that the army worms won't kill?

The birds are doing well. The peeps are growing and everybody goes out in the evening to hunt for grass and bugs. I am looking at the coop and think I need to start selling/eating roos. I will have to do the count and see who will make it through to winter.

Glad everyone is enjoying the weather. It is humid and warm up here with lots of rain.

Summer Here Too! Me and Suzie are on our way Amy LOL! I love the good unwatered wine...might have you bring me a bot for next years bash...sounds delish.

We picked up 6lbs of sparegus from the retired teacher friend...suzie did pints of dilled for future use....I froze the extra 10lbs last year that were intended for Doc...the timing just didn't work out...so I still have plenty in the freezer...keeps quite well and long.

We have a hatch of red admiral butterflys here that is awesome...they are everywhere in huge numbers.

We have some not great news about Camp....the well went dry
hit.gif
it's already 270 feet down and the plan is to go deeper....estimated cost is $5,000, Dang

enough to make one cry.....they are coming Thursday morning to drill....we have camp booked and needed to bring in a 2500 gallon tanker for water supply to accomidate the folks there....I'll report more as I know more....please wish us luck
fl.gif
and say a prayer for Camp!

Sounds like you have plenty of rain Jim...we only picked up a million dollar inch...thankful for that....clouds moved through with thunder this mornin...no rain though.

Good luck at the vet CC!

later... bigz

I just came in from feeding.. as wet as I am, it might just as well be raining..

DD#2 just got here.. I am going to try Craig's list for the puppy again.. this time I will post it in the pets section..

Just now had a call for a puppy, but he wanted a female.. he who snoozes--------looses.

today or tomorrow I will have to visit the chicken feed store.. I am down to 3 bags of layer crumbles.. I was going to pick up some at F&F yesterday, but I got there just as the afternoon storm rolled in.. I didn't feel like getting soaked so I just came home..

I am glad to have my small trailer back.. just in time,, the Blazer decided to start to buck.. Either a fuel filter or the fuel pump.. I'll change the filters first.. then a can of sea foam.. go from there..

I should take a shower, but it would be wasted.. I will prolly wait until tonight.. just be glad that you don't have to hang around with me today..

a large portion of the maple tree next to the house came down during the wind.. broke off clean, so I will have an easy job of hauling it to the burn pile..
