Evening

, well is was a busy last couple of days, we had to get 2 units ready for tomorrow, 1 unit was returned on Wed and we had to remove wallpaper that was falling off the walls

, someone before the current owner thought putting wallpaper up in rental units was a good idea

, DD and I had to remove 2 layers of backing once the top layer of paper was pulled- took longer than it should have. Ended up repainting the unit beacuse of candle soot at the top of the walls. Finished that one this am and then moved onto the 2nd unit this afternoon-thankfully the tenants moving out of this one did an awesome job of cleaning and if didn't need much to get it ready- wish all tenants could be so neat!

All the chickens doing fine here and taking the hot weather in stride.

Made some peach jam this evening with DD for her to use as a fair project- trying to stay awake so I sleep tonight

DH sat down with the kids to watch a movie and is now sleeping.

Suppose I should go get chores done and now DS(7) is hungry.

Well we incorporated our 15 week old teens into the coop today.seemed to good, although they are sticking together in the corner more and venturing out for a little and running back then. Too cute. Jut trying to convince them to go in coop for night. They keep j,ping on high perches in run...even the silkies who want to perch... Too cute.

Good evening...watering the garden--again! I got my pond cleaned out and decided that the statuary pump I was going to use was too small. I will go to menards or somewhere and get a new pump for the pond I guess. It looks so nice all clear! It has been a while since it has been this clean. I had a momentary thought of getting into it and cooling off! Figured it would be pretty darn cold though.
Chores are done and now I can relax a bit and then head to bed...I hope I sleep better than last night! It is always hard when DH first gets back from a trip...he is a noisy sleeper for sure. He rides out again tomorrow night and the train comes back on Wednesday at 1PM. I think he is here for a while then. (who can keep it straight though?)
DS23 took the bus back to Milwaukee this afternoon. It was nice to see him. I guess he isnt coming back now for a couple weeks...will miss his cousins on Wednesday I guess...he has to work

The person that wanted ducklings never showed up today. I think I need to post them again...I have sold as many geese as I want to. I should really catch up the rest of the babies and band them so I can tell them from the adults this fall...I really would like to try and make a goose again. My first attempt was a miserable failure! I have one more woman that wants a few but she wants only females so she can wait. I tried sexing the older ones I sold but it is too early. (at least for my technique)
Tomorrow I think I will wash chickens and dust them up good for the show. I cant find my lost for canning...it's got to be around here somewhere! Sure hope I find it...it has the chickens listed too!
Well I guess I will take off for the night...maybe make some popcorn or something. Gotta go and turn off the sprinkler too. Wouldnt want that to run all night!

Not much new here. The chickies & buns are managing the heat as well as I could hope for. Sure wish we would get some rain, though. DH & I are supposed to go for a bike ride tomorrow, so it should rain buckets.

I can hear fireworks in the distance. I sure hope none of my neighbors try to light any off & start a brush fire. All the yards & houses would go up in seconds. Gotta get up early, so better get some stuff done. Sweet dreams, all! And no, Bigfam, we won't be heading up to your neck of the woods this time, so if you want your cage, you'll have to hop in your fancy-dancy truck & come get it.

How is your Della doing? Any better?

Someone called me today asking if I wanted to buy her 10 yr old mare for $500. Only problem is she's pregnant! And she bought her 4 months ago at an auction so has no idea what she's bred with. Now, the chance is slim but what if a mule pops out of there? I needs myself a mule! I went and looked at the horse today and she ignored me. She's not in your pocket like my horse. I really didn't care for her. But they did have a 5 yr old mare they were selling that was pretty lovey. Too bad she's 5 and greenbroke. Because that coupled with my inexperience would equal a major disaster.

I could reply if someone would remind me what I just read !!!! Almost Timers is getting worse I'm afraid !!!

I do remember reading about your friend taking his life Bigz. How sad that is. I agree it is a selfish act but he obviously suffered from depression or emtional issues. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and his loved ones.

My ex SIL's brother took his life about 5 yrs ago. He had a wife from h3ll. I remember hearing about all of the crap she pulled on him for years. I think the answer should have been divorce. Instead he left his children fatherless. A few to many drinks gave him the guts to do the deed. My exSIL (his sister) was very very close to my parents and as we all were still dealing with their deaths she and my nephew had to deal with his. Very selfsish indeed. But so so sad. That is not the way to teach young people how to deal with lifes problems. I was so worried about my nephew's emotional well being after that. He just graduated from HS this year and is doing great but in the back of my mind I will always worry since teen suicide is so high.
The scary part seems to be that the ones that accomplish the act don't give any indication that they are considering it. Sad indeed.

CC The horses name is Cody. I haven't gone to see him again. The people that are caring for him have my number and will call me. I might go this week to see how he is. TG I got him out of there before the heat wave. He was in shade however. I think that is the only thing that kept him alive this long. I should contact the District Attornies office to find out when the court date is or if their will even be charges. I think the longer he is there the more of a bill the owner will rack up and will not be able to afford or not want to pay. It would be in her best interest to surrendor the horse now but who knows how she is thinking.
Hopefully I'll get the horse for free or cheap. Better let to let them fatten him up first. LOL I'll keep him that way then LOL

Just got another 78 bales of hay today. Right off the fields. No discount though for off the field. Oh well it's closer then Merrill where we were going. Only 60 mile round trip vs 120.
Paid $2.00 a bale. In Merrill it's $1.75. The hay we got today is more of a fine grass hay. The hay from Merrill has a tiny amount of alfalfa in it but his hay always has more stems. He works full time and doesn't always get it baled at the right time. Horses did fine on it though, no complaints. I'll probably get it from both places since I don't want to go without a backup hay source.

Bigz are you telling us you have a house chicken or does she just come and go as she pleases, beats you in the door ??? LOL Went down for feed on Friday. They are going to hate me, I always show up right when they are going to close. I keep promising that I will come earlier but it never happens ..... They are very nice there. Price went up to $9.10 for layer mash. Oh well. What hasn't gone up..... except gas !!!!! Wish it would. DH is still laid off and doesn't look like he qualifies for UE. There is the week waiting period and no pay for the first week anyway so ...........

I just hope he doesn't go back and then get laid off again. On and Off would really mess with UE.
