Another Good Morning All! Cind I had that run door board cut, primered, and painted ready to go then things got in the way. Scratched enough things off the list to where it was IT'S turn. Was just thinking this morning that maybe I'd get a green treat and skip all the painting and waiting. But then it wouldn't look right with all the rest being white. IDK. Meatloaf was excellent! Think I'll take the foil off for the last 10 minutes to get it smokier next time. CC was watching the leaves falling here too. The crab trees look like it's late fall. TO good luck at the fair! Carol and Cind hope you get that part of your life over soon! L is pretty well through it now. Jim glad you got a ride both ways sorry you didn't get what you wanted. Have a couple that does stump grinding around here they call themselves Stumpy and Twiggy. It really fits them. Raim is her "popes nose" bald? That's what my self proclaimed good christian ex MIL calls it. The coop door blew shut yesterday and when I went to open it one of the black hens went screamin by me flew up on the nest boxes then down on the bar and into a nest. Express delivery. Didn't make it half way back to the house and she was singing. Fun knee! Had a weird response to my CL ad no return E mail address. Think it's a scam. Posting on CL was a lot easier than I had envisioned. Maybe FT is in the pokey? Headlines read. Limping naked woman covered in feathers attempts to steal horse!

Jim's been busy but hot (and a little stinky)
Bigz been busy and hot (and probably stinky)
Doc been a little lazy and hot (unsure of the stinky)
Unks been working in the greenhouse which must be hot ( and most likely stinky)
Vicky's been chatting away, terry won at the fair for some canning, WCC been playing with horses, CC been a witch and a snot (but an Irish snot if that makes it better), Amyable is buying swim diapers for herself, and BL4 got a new bikini (ok those 2 were on facebook!) and I am apparently opening up my chicken coop as a B&B since we put an air conditioner in the coop.
There have been other trouble makers posting too, but I have done this all my memory with a rum and coke in hand.
HAVE A SAFE TRIP BACK!

Thanks for the short & stinky BigFam!!!! I head the rest of the way home today.

Bl4- If you cannot keep the ducks outdoors, I would definitely stick out the 300+ pink flamingos and the decoys!!!! And CC's idea of getting neighbors to testify on your behalf is an excellent idea.

Good cool morning all!
well, love this morning, heh? I hope this cool spell gets my girls back on track. Got one back to laying thin-shelled eggs, when she's on the roost, and my roost is built on top of the nest box with the top of the box being the chip-filled poop tray. I now have dried egg down the front of my box cover, lovely.

Know what I will be doing this morning. If the weather is as nice as they are predicting, ol' cranky, broody butt is getting dunked in a rail barrel!
ep.gif
SOMEONE on here told me dunking her in cold water will break her brood. Since my rain barrel water is cold in the morning but not freezing, I'm thinking that should be enough to do the trick. I hope so. I'm really getting tired of being growled at every morning when I go in the coop.
hmm.png
She has learned the routine however. I let her growl in the morning, when it starts getting hot, I go drag her out of the nest, thru a LOT of protesting but she relaxes when I tuck her under my arm and carry her out into the yard where I have put the girls food and water in the shade. She eats, drinks and basically just goes back to normal til she sees me then she follows me around complaining the entire time trying to get me to open the pop hole so she can get back on her nest. Kind of funny at first but getting reeeaaallllyyyy old now, geesh. I would be happy to just stick some odd eggs under her and let her go but at it but can't find anybody that wants anything hatched. Only person I know with roos is my next door neighbor and she wants nothing to do with babies right now. (or even which eggs were laid when~she thought her hens had stopped laying, no eggs in the boxes, til I sent her on an egg hunt and she found a pile of eggs in nests all over the hay pile in the shed for her goat

) . BTW~she never stopped over yesterday for goodies from the garden so this morning the girls are having an out of control Zucchini for breakfast.

Having trouble getting moving this morning after spending the day yesterday cleaning out my workshop. Converting it back into my craft shop again. In the spring it is where I start my seedlings, do transplants, etc. It has greenhouse panels for the roof and was actually my original little greenhouse my hubby built for me out of scrapwood and pallets. Been improved, adding on,etc. Now in spring, starter shed, garden workshop~ rest of the year (including winter~`really toasty when the sun is shining no matter what temp is outside) it's my woodworking/craft shop because it's always so bright. Got all the pots and tools put back into storage and everything cleaned up (which I didn't do before the spring switch so I had a real mess
hide.gif
) Got er' done, yeaa, but it was hot in there!

Oh, and my hubby who really didn't want the chooks and said ok, but they are all YOURS, is outside this morning staking out the yard because he doesn't think the girls' run is big enough and they would enjoy more space on the grass. (keep in mind it is already roughly 20X25' not counting the garden yard they are let into every day. Such a tough guy, hehehe

Dan has 1st pick because he posted first and is going out of his way to get me some BO pullets. Trade doesn't matter

. Let me check my totals. Just harvested a little while ago. Got 100% on the planting but a lot of the bulbs are really small this time. Lousy weather up here for hardneck garlic. Too warm too soon and then too much rain at the wrong times. Who knew up here I would trouble with ground warming too early and too much moisture?

Morning all!
Woke up late this morning. Got half the chores done, still need to let Ben out of the basement and take care of the Buns.

TO-When DH got the call to bring chicks to the photo shoot/video shoot he called around for chicks to various places and could not find any. I told don't panic I have connections. You and your hens are lifesavers! I will give him the message that you want to see the video!!

BL4-got to Mad City Chickens web site. There you will find oodles of info in the FAQ section on getting chicken/duck ordinances passed. Or attempting to anyway. They have all the common questions that cities are concerned about and the correct answers to them. I can tell you the most common fear from cities is disease. Then smell and noise. A coop permit is actually a good idea because cities love money and fees to get that money. Sometimes by suggesting a permit fee that greases the wheels more and opens their ears. Another tactic is to suggest a year trial. Usually it works on the basis that at the end of the year, the council takes a look at how many complaints they received and makes a decision to either abolish the temporary ordinance or allow poultry. In your case that might be a double edged sword since you already have had a complaint but if like you said, it was the people with to many dogs who turned you in, then turn about is fair play. That might stop them from turning you in again. Having said that though, if they allow the temporary ordinance then while the city might get 1 call about you, once the person who is call finds out poltry are allowed, then that may very well stop them in their tracks. HTH
BTW here is the link to MCC: http://madcitychickens.com/
Oh they also have a little movie that they made out chickens/ordinances and such. It is hilarious and informative! DH has a copy and if you want to borrow it let me know. He'll be back Friday.

BIgFam-I see you finally got your MB posted in your siggy.....Took you long enough....were my directions not clear? heheheeheh

Kudos to CC for pointing that out..eheheheheheheheh

Vicki-'Ive been meaning to chime in and keep forgetting . You can break a hens brood by placing her in a wire cage for 3 days or so. Some really broody breeds *coughSugerGluecoughcough*
may need to be kept in the cage for longer. They hate it but it's very effective and drier.

Well must be off. It's going to be one of those days. My clock is off since I work up late...I hate that....
Later Gators....

Good Late morning! I put an add on CL but I couldnt confirm it because they wanted to verify my phone and because I have dial up it is not possible to be on the computer and get there code through phone on the same time. Argh. I wrote them a note.

I got a $2700 bill from Verizon last week. I wrote them and told them I dont even have an account with them and to EXPLAIN THEMSELVES! lol I had just bumped the caps lock but thought I would leave it that way for them to see.

Wow I guess we talk about everything on here huh?

You can also give her some nice ice cubes to brood Vickie lol

I have some corn that is only 2 feet and tassling. I think the heat did it. Only one dill plant too.

Stay cool and hoping for rain.!!!!
