Actually all of our police live in town..... but they still won't cut you any slack. I got a ticket for unregistered plates three houses down from mine.... I even told the officer I where I lived and that I would have the car registered immediately when I walked in the door. Nope, too bad, here is your ticket for $175........ jerk. I only know ONE cop who is not an arrogant a$$h0!e; and that would be my photographer who is retired. I still can't believe that such a sweet, nice guy could have been a cop.

And I AM over 35, and ALL the cops I knew growing up were jerks too. They came to the High School and gave every kid who was parked incorrectly a $25 parking ticket.... and when I say incorrectly I mean we had angle parking and if you were pulled through to the opposite spot you got a ticket. Those cops would also follow kids out of town for miles..... just following them and never doing anything. Gives you a bad taste when cops treat you like that.

Plus after the dealings with the dang neighbor dogs trying to break into my house and NOTHING was done by the dork patrol.... yeah we have idiots for cops here. Some moron gave them a badge and a gun.... wonderful.

I have a sometimes broody chicken... She sits on the eggs all day but once I take them away she gets up and does her thing. Hoping to gt ahold of carol and see if this broody will take the silkie chick of mine she hatched. Still can't believe that silver surfer the roo finally had a good hatch. Thought he might be shooting blanks. although...just putting the bug out there... We might be looking to trade hm out this summer...he is a little rough with my kids. Ds can be a little rough on the chickens when he picks them up and they squak an now silver the roo charges him. He does not like the kids constantly picking up his girls. Pretty sure I have a 16 week old blue roo silkie so that might be his replacement, he is gorgeous and show quality splash roo...just can't have mean bird with my kids. I give him until the end of the month to shape up...then gonna trade him in for a newer model!
According to carol she tough baby was a lue which means that with my splash roo, it was the black silkie momma. Not the white. My buff does not lay...so not her.

Anyway..that is about my excitement

Jim, it is the same as paying for a dog license. You want a dog you better get the license or pay the fine. Heck they even make you get cat licenses now......

Personally I would prefer to NOT give the city another dime......

I dont pay the license fee for my dog. Who comes up with this crap anyway? I didn't even pay for the driveway permit when we started building our house. I may try to sneak our pole shed in without a building permit. See how long it takes the township to notice another building they need to tax. I'm sick of people being punished for working hard and having nice things.

Vicki...i don't break the broods...however folks that dunk the chickens, dunk them completely under the water...shocking them into breaking the broody instinct....no need to bother with the cage...under cold water all the way....the reason I don't do it....doesn't mean I'm right....just sayin., I give em eggs and let em be happy. You just gotta love chicken math.

yeah Vicki, you didn't dunk her,, you just gave her a bath..

the reason for dunking is to cool the body cavity down.. you do not have to dunk the head..

I would swish her around a bit and tell her that the next time you do this, her head will be gone and the water will be hot !! make sure she is listening..

Good evening! WOW Ghost--a little wild about police? (Just teasin' ya!) THe folks in the madcity chickens know how to do it though BL4--I hope you have luck...when I had to see the city guy about mine in town he said, "I suppose you are going to say they are your kids' pets?" I said, "No, but I brought pictures!" I had one of my then 2 year old sharing her breakfast cereal with a production red hen! I would post it but it is an "old school" pic and I am not sure anymore how to use the scanner and post a pic, Been a while!

Checked out my canning at the fair. I have one blue, a couple of redss a white, a pink and a participation ribbon. I couldnt write them down at the time...I just remember that the bread and butter pickles got a first and Bigz's salsa (recipe) got a second along with my pickled quail eggs. I really have a bone to pick with the judge though cause the winners of the canned soup variety said to process in a WATER BATH CANNER! (can you say botulism?) SHe was at the judging and shoed me the recipe and swore up and down that it was OK since all the ingredients are cooked. She wouldnt even listen to me or my examples..."we got the recipe off the internet!" Yeah......

I have 10 chicks in the chick tv right now. several more pipped. I keep taking more hot water downstairs because even taped this bator does not do a great job with humidity. I liked to use my other one for hatching but it is still chicken chewed. It is very odd the looks of some of these chicks...H&R--what do you get when you breed 2 cuckoo marans together? I imagine that they chick shouldn have brown in it? Mine Do!

No idea what's happening...but I do have an adorable ameraucana chick right now!!!

I have to tell you all before I fall asleep...this morning there was a fox in my dooryard...took one look at me and grabbed a 1/4 grown chick! I tried to frighted it so it would drop it...no such luck! A few minutes later I hear the guineas making noise and there it is again right at the end of the cornfield!!! Put some bate in the traps but dont expect any luck!
