Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good PM, good news, the parts came today.. bad news, the front seal was not the right style.. good news , it didn't cost that much.. bad news, I still have to find a front seal.. UNLESS,,,,,,,we can re-use the old one.. It doesn't look that bad to me..

I think the guys at YT sent the wrong one on purpose,, just to get back at Annie for the arse chewing they took.. I told her not to pi$$ those guys off..

I had to read 14 posts with one eye closed. my stiff neck/head ache is causing my eyes to not focus together.. It is like looking at two pages , one with each eye..

we did not get a single purple guinea from the hatch.. and it was not MMM that sent them to us,, it was Strombergs.. Annie is not a happy camper...

I did get the carburator cleaned all up and painted..

tomorrow I might tackle the oil bath air cleaner.....

might call it an early night tonight..

Did you guys know last night was a blue moon? Second full moon in August. Got the camera out and took some neat shots.

I will send ground cherry seeds to anyone that wants them. They are so easy, and yes, have invasive tendencies. But they are really easy to rip out. Good thing, they are rabid self-seeders.

Had the laugh of the week today. I went out to the coop this aft to grab eggs, only found 3 in the boxes, what the heck? Looked around and noticed something odd on my Faverolle hen. I kid you not, she had an egg stuck to her butt!! She must have poohed and got some stuck to her behind, then laid her egg before it dried. Scooped her up and had to yank the egg off her feathers! Wonder how long she was walking around like that?!

Now that would have been a great site to take a picture of! lol

Hi, all!

Yes, the sky was beautiful last night and the blue moon was incredible. We were outside watching our son's high school football game - pretty night to be out! Today was pretty awesome, too! Nice and cool!

Anyhow, I'm just wondering if anyone close to Madison/Dane Co. would want to go in on a duck order at Metzer's?

See: http://www.metzerfarms.com/HatchingDates.cfm?CustID=1104242

I'm just thinking about it and won't be ordering enough to make their minimum. Thought maybe someone would want to go in on an order and share the shipping expenses? I have 4 duck eggs in the incubator and they should hatch in the next day or two or they're duds. I want to have a couple more ducks especially for eggs next year. Figure if I get them now, they'll be old enough to get through the winter find and produce eggs next year. But I'm also just think of waiting for Spring. In anyone's interested, please send me a private message. Thanks!

Have a great evening.

Hi all!

TO...The wild ground cherries I used to get were about the size of a marble or a little larger when ripe. I don't remember how wide the leaves were. My boy who moved back is 23 too. It can be a bit tense when they've been on their own and come back and think everything should still be like their still on their own. Hummm. Mine is a great kid, but there are times

Just a warning

aj.....Gee, my people get a kick out of the 1 blue egg they get in a carton. The kids usually want to eat the blue egg.

vicki.... that must have been so cute!

unk... another cool thing about freezing tomatoes like that... easy to cut up when still half froze and if you just want pulp and not a bunch of water... just squeeze it out!

Amy... what a sticky situation for your hen!

Hummm.... allot of MIA's today.... must be busy with the nice cool temps. It sprinkled a little here and was pretty cloudy for the Blue Moon. Oh well, still need lots of rain. Felt sorry for the mom guinea, when the drops started she was heading for shelter with the keets but didn't make it. I felt bad for her hunkered down in the rain trying to keep the keets dry.

Poor girl.
Didn't get jack done the coop today. Was going to put up a retainer to keep the straw in the coop. They keep scratching it into the next room... more there than in the coop!

Anyway, drill/driver was dead so that went on hold. Didn't feel like much else so I rattled around the kitchen awhile. Made gizzards and gravy on toast for supper... hit the spot! Comport food!

Night All!

Beautiful Morning All! Vic I just love watching the chicks dust themselves it's so dang cute! Amy too bad you didn't get a pic of that I most surely would have busted out laughing. Makes the age old question of which came first even more intriguing I looked but the moon didn't look blue to me but then again I'm color blind.

Jim as long as you've got it apart you might as well get a seal. you know how that works.

Bigz was just thinking yesterday about how much we got out of the garden this year. It's so nice to have the shelves FULL! All the work has paid off in qts.

The roma's are all done still have blossoms on the Big Boys and some green ones. Unbelievably I dug the last of the onions yesterday. Still have about 5' of carrots for eatin and some more broc comin. Should get the seed off the dill but I don't know why still have years worth of seeds from a good friend.

Was thinking of ripping out the cukes but I just can't after L makes this last batch of marinara we'll see how many jars are left and probably will fill em with dills. Don't think there will be many empties I have around 10 qts of of relish sittin on the counter ready to be squeezed out. 9 pint jars and a case qts is all that's left and I'm not buying anymore! Around 6:30 I looked out as I often do and not a chicken in sight. Went out and saw that I didn't do such a good job closing the garden gate. Walked out and asked Peatwo if he was trying to get them all out? He just cocked his head and looked at me as if to say Ya but you left the gate open I thought it was OK. Smart A chickens! Have jars to wash and dishes to do before the relish. Best get to it! Hope you worker bees enjoy your long weekend! We retired folk don't get those we just have really long weeks.

, have to go and check the garden this am- looks like we have some more tomatoes that need to be picked, as well as beans. Looks like a few of our squash plants are starting to produce so we might get some yet

.

We made 12 qts and 4 pints of dilly beans yesterday and have almost 4 qts of beans to freeze this am.

speaking of jars have to check what we have left, growing up my mom did lots of canning and I have been slowly getting the jars they have as I need more. think my dad said they have some jars left that we can take.

very thankful with what we are getting from the garden this year considering how the weather has been. shelves are filling up for sure

enjoy the day
