Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Evening all.. been a long day, cooked down 75Lbs of them Tomatoes into Juice and Spaghetti sauce, waiting on jars to sterilize now so I can finish sometime tonight.arghhhhhhhhhh, been along process, and if I ever do it again I think I'll start at 6am, not 9, and maybe have some help peeling all those giant Mators........ my poor hands.
Well all I guess I'm eating my words, Bugsy is off his food again the steroids must have worn off, so been force feeding today, now he's throwing up everything........... arggggggghhhhhhh so depressing...... I feel so bad for him I wish he would just get better or go........... I ahte forcing him to eat, it makes me feel terrible............
Them Vulturine Guineas are cool, but would never make it here in Wisconsin unless tyour coop is heated, because they can not take the cold and freeze there feet at anything below 30 degrees, so our 30 to 50 below would surely kill them....... I think there beautiful colored but kinda an ugly head, also way too expensive.WOW 3 eggs 101 bucks and reserve isn't met, and those are crosses. !!!!!!!!
So back to work if I don't want all my hard work to spoil......later all Kim

I will be in town on Tuesday cleaning a unit just off of Fish Hatchery road maybe we could meet by the Copps food store????  Let me know, the cucs range in size from medium to jumbo so let me know what you want.  I am all done putting up cucs for the year

Perfect...you tell me what time and I can meet you over there. I will take whatever you want to get rid of. Let me know what you might like for them. Need any zucchini or cherry tomatoes? I am at work from 8-2:30

Thanks again cheryl

I agree., those vultures look cool, but they are crosses, so no telling what their offspring would look like...at $101/3 they won't sell too many.. However,, there are some people who won't know any better..

whoever invented peeling tomatoes ? I never do.. the skins cook away so that you never notice them.. and what if you do notice them,,,you don't peel a raw tomato to eat it, do you ?? There is a lot of flavor just under the skin ..

we had our corn for supper tonight.. It was nice, tender and sweet.. but it was not as sweet as last year's crop.. but a few cool nights might take care of that..

Now Jim do you think I really want Mator peelings in Spaghetti sauce???? Sure I eat the peelings on raw ones, doesn't everyone? but cooked peels are bitter and tough along with the seeds, so I go thru all the extra work and its worth it, my sauce is the boss......... My sons think I should patent it and make a fortune........LOL Maybe some day.
Anyway I would call the place suggested earlier I think its Wisconsin Tractor parts, in Black creek that's just 13 miles from us and Adam goes past the place everyday on his way to school...matter of fact thats right about where our Car died last Monday.... if they have that seal we can grab it b4 we come up...... number is 1-920-984-3327
Now quit picking on them there mators huh I'll bring a jar of sauce for you to try and see if you still want me to leave the peel in .............Kim

My cat has taken to urinating on clothes and towels on my bathroom floor. This is also the cat that cleans her butt by sliding it across my bedroom carpet. Today I noticed crystals in the urine she left on my pants. I had finally decided to have her put to sleep, but I guess canned cat food and water other than ours low PH tap is in order.
Sorry. Been MIA up north & just plain busy. Long story.

Anyway, your cat is probably peeing everywhere because she has urinary crystals which causes pain when she pees, and she then associates the pain with her box so she stops using it. Cure the crystals & it usually cures the problem.

Crystals form due to dietary pH and ash content in their food. Your cat needs to go on a urinary diet. Wellness has an excellent dry food but it is pretty pricey. Purina One also has a urinary formula that is effective if cost is an issue. You can get a 16lb. bag down here for about $22, as opposed to Wellness, which is about $34-35 for 12lbs., but the quality & ingredients in Wellness are far superior. As for canned food, your best bet is to check the labels for ash content. It is listed in the guaranteed analysis below the ingredients. It should list crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, moisture, ash max. Make sure to buy food that has the ash max at 3% or less. Most fish flavored food will be high in ash, so be careful when buying it. And make sure she has access to fresh water always to help flush the crystals through. I have never heard of water being a cause of crystal formation. I have a 19 year old cat who is prone to crystal formation & he has drank Milwaukee water (4 years) & now the irony, mineral ridden crap we now have (15 years). I have noticed no increase in him getting crystals with the water change. In fact, he has only had 1 reoccurrance since leaving Milwaukee & their soft, treated water.

Petco has reasonable prices on their dry food when you catch a sale, and they usually have free shipping on orders over $50.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

ETA- when my boy got crystals, they completely blocked his urethra, so he had to be hospitalized for a few days. Once I got him on a urinary diet, he never needed any meds, but not every cat is the same. Females aren't quite as likely to get crystals as much as males are, and usually not nearly as severe due to their larger urethra so they aren't as likely to get a total blockage, which can be fatal in a short period of time. Blood, straining in the litterbox, not using the box and especially an inability to walk well or at all are all signs to get your cat to a vet NOW, male or female.

Another reason cats stop using their box is because they might have a urinary tract infection from bacteria causing an alkaline pH urine. After getting meds to clear it up, a urinary diet will prevent reoccurrances. Some cats are just prone to getting them over & over, so a lifelong urinary diet becomes necessary.

Well I had a nice post all typed out and was trying to post some pictures in it and it froze up my computer !!! WTH ???

Anyway, I'll retype it tomorrow.

But before I forget, Hey Bigz..... we are thinking about driving down to go to the vegetable farm you mentioned the other day and thought We would stop at the Amish tack shop to get a few extensions made for my horse harness. If you read this in the morning can you give me directions to the vegetable farm and to the Amish Tack shop please ??? Thanks Bigz... Luv Ya !!

Anway my earlier vanishing post had pictures of my Percheron/Morgan mare... Queen... driving her new cart that we bought last fall. She did a SUPER good job. You would never have known it has been over 5 years since she drove.

Ok, well, now my sleeping pill is kicking in. Sorry I have no reply's.since I haven't been able to keep up these days. Hoping for Rain so I have a better excuse to sit around and play catch-up.

Good Night all !!

I'll have to keep them in mind. It took 4 days for mine to get here from VA and they were so thursty. They drank a whole quart of water down in about an hour for the 3 birds. They are doing well now. Swedish Flower Hens day after their arrival in Butternut, WI.

My Swedish Flower Hens are coming from out East. Don't know anyone locally who has them. They are rare in numbers, so maybe people will get their numbers up if they are more well known. They are hardy for Wisconsin Winters, lay a lite brown egg, and tend to be mild in temperament. I will let you know as I experience them.

Pat
Just wanted to let you know that it took from Wed. until Fri. AM for the Citron Spangled Hamburgs to arrive and the female had died. Guess it was too hot or maybe not enough food. The male made it ok. The Swedish Flower hens were also shipped Wed. and it took until Sat. AM for them to arrive. Talk about thursty birds. They are doing fine and I made a video of them which I will post. It is not exactly movie of the year, but you can see the birds anyhow.

how about 12:30 pm at the Copps on Fish Hatchery Rd, if you would like to get rid of some zucchini I would take some of them. nothing for the cucs just glad that they can be used, I will bring you at least 2 - 5 gallon buckets.

working on making pickled onions this am, DH went out and pulled the rest yesterday and there was enough to make another 11 pints- he is all excited! We figured the onions would be to big for the jars.

thinking we should try our hand at planting garlic, considering how much we have been going through this season :)
