Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Thanks for all the advice on my hen Grace. Still working up the courage to push it back in. Not sure I have the stomach for that... what happens if it doesn't get put back?
Well not only did we get 3 little goats, we also picked up a miniature pony last night! I have never had a horse, so I really have no idea what I am doing. he is a sweet sweet boy though and of course the kids love him. My sister-in-law is going to come out tonight to look him over and hopefully give me tha basics.
Working on some tomato juice this morning, and then doing some outdoor decorating to get ready for family pictures Thursday.
Have a good day everyone!

ugh... really rather not be at work today. Need to buckle down and get some garden stuff done before the weather turns bad. Too much to do! I bought some cherry bushes (twigs) and need to get those in if they have a hope of surviving. some gooseberrys that also need to go in. Then dig up the garden and the weed bed, um I mean berry patch... although I might wait on that one until things die back... might be easier to de- weed then!

Plus spend quality time with my chickens. The last chicks we let momma broody hatch and raise, the only one that was friendly (go figure) was the roo we sent over to carols... sweet little dominique boy!! so we really want to work with these little ones that hatched ( 4 of the 5 right now) to make them really lovey dovey!

Besides the laundry ( glad it is not 18 loads like BigFam!!) and cooking/cleaning expected of me as a person who raises kids and only works part time. So much to do and once the kids are in bed... I am usually pooped out!

Need to start listing stuff on craiglist in my basement from the rummage sale this spring and other stuff I have uncoverd or moved from my kids closets. Lots of clothes and toys to go!

calgon take me away! But instead I am sitting at my desk on a fairly slow day...working until 2ish.... sigh. Love my flexible job but wish I had more time to get stuff done.

BigFam you need Zicam.... stuff has been a miracle worker for me, I've been using it for years and IF I start taking it ASAP I do not have such a bad time. I know they say colds in adults should not cause fevers and so on, but when I get a cold it is like a mild flu.... and of course I picked up a cold yesterday.

Since the majority of the people in my house have the sniffles I made a BIG pot of homemade chicken and dumplings; as in bought a whole chicken and boiled the snot out of it to make stock for the soup...... every little bit helps!

Looking forward to the chicken seminar tonight! I will try really hard NOT to share my bugs!

good AM, Annie called me befor 9am but I didn't hear the phone ring.. I got up at 9:3o.. It felt good to sleep in..

I will comment, but not use names.. I forgot who said what..

some people think that fertile eggs are more healthy.. I think that is another myth ..

that prolapse has to be pushed back in ASAP.. suck it up and do the deed.. you are an animal owner now.. you have responsibilities..

TerriO, with the distended tummy, I might just have figured out why your horse is limping..

I know a lady who holds the eggs for a whole month.. she claims that she has great hatches.. maybe so.. I do not like to put real fresh eggs into the bator.. I like to hold them for about 3 days..Just a quirk of mine.. nothing scientific about it.. I do try to get them in within the first week, though..

TerriO is right .. a chicken takes over two weeks to lay all the eggs by herself,, However, she does sit on them about once a day as she is laying the next one.. just saying..
We can try to imitate what a chicken does, but there are subtleties that we might be missing..

DrH, I will be playing with my tractor too,,, soon,,, I tried to attach the tip onto the speedometer cable .. The crimp missed the cable, and now I have to figure out how to expand the tip again.. they do not sell tips separately .. I hate to (won't) spend another $10 just to get another tip.. Hello boys and girls, today's word is JB Weld,, can you say "JB Weld ?"..

I keep hearing noises from upstairs.. I wonder who/what is up there ??? better go see..

if the tissue doesn't get put back in, the tissue will start to die, infection could set in and the chicken might not recover to be productive.

This is an actual sign you can buy to put on your incubator

been busy around here the last week or so........just sitting down to a bowl of chili before heading out with the boys to their religion class tonight. DD is playing her 1st volleyball game- it is an away game in Palymra/Egale so we didn't go- sounds like they won atleast 1 game. She'll be later getting home tonight- hopefully she doesn't have alot of homework to finish.

On the windy side today and chilly, finished cutting grass this afternoon so that is done for the week. Weekends have been filled with soccer games and DS(10) has a soccer tourny this weekend.

Have to go out and check the garden again- tomatoes should be picked again.

Bf4m.... If your going to be renting a car when you get to CA it might be worth it to see if they have car seats and boosters. I know some places do, my son did it that way once. It would cut down on the cost for "add on" luggage and be less hassle. Some models (if they have it) have built in boosters too.

I know. I called the travel agent today to ask about that. No go. The one place doesnt off anything. The other place offers boosters for $13 additional a day, but no 5 pt harness for the 3 yr old. The best I can do is take mine, and gate check the booster, and use the one for the 3 yr old on the airplane. I wont have to pay any extra this way, just haul more crap around. Get to pull around a luggage cart with car seat. Oh well.

off to do chores...
