Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Some of the people who showed up are not residents of my town, but that was ok. It was a small group, I just wish the people who had been so against this in the first place would have attended.

Well I received my first Hate Mail letter today..... COWARDS!!!!! If they think sending me an anonymous letter is going to get me to stop.... they have no idea. What a FANTASTIC little town I live in!!!!

MLH, thank you so much for sending your DH my way! He gave a great talk, unfortunately NONE of the people against this came to the meeting. He even brought Elvis which was great, I just wish our Librarians would have been a tad bit NICER..... I will say they DID put out books on raising chickens in town, that was very nice and was not asked of them.

That's the news at 11 here.....
Take heart. Change can happen.

This week Beloit voted to allow chickens inside the city limits. From what i read in their paper they started with the mental picture of hens running in packs in the streets disrupting traffic and waking infants on purpose,. Not bad that they came so far from that much ignorance.

your community can come around too.

Sorry Jim... I gotta say it....

I challenge you to be less crotchety... :D

How's about next time I just pm you and then you can give me your opinion secretly, with no one seeing? I would never challenge the knowledge fairy! I'm kinda afraid of you... :p

bigsoggyear4u,,,,, IF you would have waited just a few months on the BWA's I will have some of the best stock available from 2 of the better lines,,,but NOOOO you had to go and order some,,,,,,,
Ah, Unk..........dontcha know by now that patience is NOT in that grasshopper's vocabulary?????

Her bator comment did not suprise me one bit.

Jim, great job on the big iron!

DrH, I sure hope your BA shows up.

Oooohhhh, Cind! Awesome job on your "potions".

Sounds divine!

Bl4, sorry to hear of the petty bs you are having to deal with. How childish.

Bf4, if Jim is still being crotchety, try PMing dawg53. Sorry I'm no help. I've never seen anything like that before. The only thing that came to mind was breast blister, but I thought that was something more common in broilers/meaties?

Good luck.

Finally got caught up! Now my eyes are burning & I'm pooped. Long story short, we went up nort for the weekend to drop off the chicks that we hatched to their new home. I waved to Sandi but she was too busy canning to see.

Sure had some beautiful weather up there & a few trees are starting to turn already. Must mean leaf raking/burning in going to be in our future again soon.

The fun never ends. DrH, like TO said, be careful makin wood. I got a dozen eggs today from my 13 ladies, and 2 of them are finishing up their molt. Bigz,

on keeping up with the feathers. I went out the other day after reading your post & felt mighty inadequate. It looks like a feather bomb exploded out there, but that was including the indoor & outdoor runs too. The coop gets cleaned out tomorrow, I hope, if I'm not procrastinating.

Must sleep now. Sweet dreams, all!

Yes, judge come to the bash. It will be gooood fooooood and nice chit chat. The 6yr old was saying how he'd like to go to Chickenstock again. I said we're having a Mini in a few weeks. I told him Terri might bring a nice rooster for Harrison to pet. He says "oh that nice lady with the calm chicken? Oh I like him! (Tommy that is). I said the 2 dogs might be coming too, and he liked that as well. Then the oldest pipes up and says "I liked Robin." I said she was coming too. (I refrained from correcting him about how abrasive and mean she really is...

)
So it sounds like my children do have fond memories of the Big Bash. I still can't believe CC snowed them so completely!

Oh and one of the guests didn't want to come in the house after getting scolded, so sh!t outside my camper, stepped in it, walked in my camper, and left his sh!t smeared sock in the camper the rest of the night.
Yep... A nap and a drink (may be even the contraband smoke too!) are in order...
WHO is abrasive????????? WHO is mean????????? Kids LIKE me, even yours. You said it yourself.

It would seem to me that you're so mean that you scare the poop out of them. But I'd probably be scared too if I had to see you at 4:30 in the morning.

Hi All!

3acres.... Cool about building the bator...hope it goes well for you and the kids!

vicki ....I needed that sign the last hatch! "Someone" cranked up the heat and it was up 114* for a few hours!!!

Bf4m... Could you describe the wound a bit better? Hard? Soft? mushy? Dose it stick out? Anything else that might help?

Bl4... Hate mail? Man, you must be a very bad girl!
gig.gif
My bet is a "Chicken Hawk" is after you!

CC.... You reminded me I forgot to post books! ... Best to check on "Amazon" for descriptions and feedback.

1) Prescription for Nutritional Healing, by Balch

2) The Herb Book, by Lust

3) Healing Herbs, The Ultimate Guide, by Castleman

4) Peterson Field Guides: Eastern/Central Medicinal Plants, by Foster/Duke

There are many, many more books for different areas and levels of herbalism, you'll have to check them out and see what works for you.
The first book is great for everyday general use. It doesn't just cover herbs but gives suggestions for other things you could do for many types of illness. It also describes illnesses and symptoms! I use it allot! The 4th book is a favorite of mine! I'm on my 5th copy! (The binding doesn't hold up for my abuse

) Anyway, these will get you started and looking on your own. Maybe GR65 has some ones she likes too! Books are a great start and great reference, but learning one on one from someone will give you more than any books can. I learned from grandparents, older neighbors and other people I met, many while looking for plants.

Night all!

Note to self: roosters crow. Even when in the basement.
Note to self: roosters must have great hearing. If a silkie roo crows from inside their coop in backyard, roo in basement of house will respond. Over and over and over...

Very good COLD morning all!!!

Unka~ POPROCKS???

such sympathy.

growing season ~gone~! Last of the salsa and tom sauce put up yesterday. All the squash piled in the front bed/craft room and heater on in the greenhouse. Guess it's time to start processing pumpkins and apples. Have to actually buy the apples this year. No crops survived the late freeze we had this spring.
