Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Here's a question that should stir some response:

What exactly is wrong with the purina feed?

I feed my birds nutrena naturewise pellet because there is less waste than the crumble. Any thoughts on that?

Also they get leftovers from family meals eventually.

and scratch blocks when I can

and mice, snakes and bugs.

I am starting to see why my wide bottomed Cochins don't fit in a 5 quart ice cream bucket(see avatar)

John... it is about 25 minutes from us. I have never gone but Carol (Wichickchook) has. She is my chicken enabler. I have a hard time getting there early with my little kids!
maybe come warm weather time!

Waiting for dinner to get done. Fast Fish Florentine. YUM and easy. I didnt have any of the instant potatoes the recipe calls for so it wasnt quite as fast as it has been. But it will probably be better with HM mashed.
Now DD is home and wants to watch the Walking Dead. Ick!
Later! TErri O

JJ Carol goes/tries to go to that swap all the time...I have never gone along but have been invited many times.
BBP-what did the dog have in his ear that they had to get out?

nice wet evening all,

ghostrider, Hope you are ok. Good luck on the heat assistance. It is getting so expensive to stay warm.

bigfamily, Hope it isn't stomach flu. I remember both the boys having it at the same time and then I got it. Not funny.

Blackbookpoultry, Hope the dog is ok, I have 5 and although expensive at time, I wouldn't trade them for anything

justjohn, never used purina, my neighbor used it until she complained that her chickens egg shells were very thin, she switched to a coop mixture and said it improved in about 1 week.
I am sure some use it without problems but lots complain too. Can't please everyone

Well the insurance guy came. Yoshi was a perfect gentle man, He barked once. then he went to investigate the insurance guy. He sniffed his hand. then decided he wasn't worth his time so went back on the front porch to survey the front yard.

I cleaned out the poo containers. Tomorrow I have to fill the feed and water, and then pack up the kennnel for the chicks. I am so tired. My son is working so gets home at 10:30-11:00
dogs bark, wake me up, then I have to get up at 3:30. I've been averaging about 6 hours a night, I need 7 lol, oh well maybe this weekend I can sleep in till 6:00 or so.

have a good night

Evening To Everyone.... thanks for the kind offer bl4, I'll work on them some and see how it goes. I think frenchie is the one that has slave labor ( think Jim told me that )
idunno.gif
Nice pics frenchie. The first mule pic reminds me of my favorite western actor festus....he was the best! He always had a mule...or was it a donkey...dang they really are easy to confuse.

Good to hear Donny is on the upside to recovery....glad to hear his stomach is ok...wish i could give him a good old nip off the flask for good times to come! I agree he is lucky to have you for a friend Doc...bet he knows it too!

Hope everyone heals fast. Don't know if the tats are worth the pain Ghost? My 3 children all have them..me and suzie know Don in shawano that does them...he told jennie we are next....

highly unlikely I'm thinkin.

Cind, hope you are feeling better soon...good to hear that you are finding homes for the kittens. We have enough with 5 for now.

Big auction next to me this Sat...right in back of me...310 acres that will be offered in 9 parcels or a whole...third generation farm where the son went to college to show dad how to really run a farm...guess he should of hit the books harder....prolly gonna go for 4k an acre....5k would not suprise me. Nolan sales has the auction...good web site with the details, for those of you that would want to be my neighbor. Here is our chance to all move together like we talked years ago.
Really sad that they are losing the farm....bigger ain't always better.

Sounds like a good week end weather wise....hope to get more fire wood split and cut...or is it cut and split ?

bigz

BigZ, If I had won the lottery....... that is really sad. I would purchase the whole kit and kaboodle.

Nothing to report here. Tomorrow night I will be busy baking 150 mini cupcakes of GF chocolate cake. At some point this weekend I will treat my son to a homemade banana cream pie (no jello needed). I made one once, and if you have never had a REAL banana cream pie you are missing out! Using Jello pudding just insults the end result! I was completely amazed at how GOOD it tastes!

Off the soap box.....

Frenchie, so nice to hear from you again.

TO, take better care of yourself!

Cind...

Ghost, take good care of yourself and get that infection knocked out quick!

BBP, that was a cheap surgery.... sorry you had to have it done.

Doc, that is GREAT news about D! Not that he has cancer but that it is NOT in the stomach! You are right about the outcome if it was....

I think I covered all the bases......

Time to get to bed.

Night all!

Ghost, I hope you are feeling better real soon. My dad had MRSA too. Not fun at all.

Frenchie, I'm glad you explained the pics weren't from your place. I was thinking you went a little hog wild on C-L again!

Cind, I hope today was better for you.

Doc, so glad to hear about Donny! I hope he heals fast. And like everyone else said, he's very lucky to have you for a friend. I'm sure you are equally lucky to have him too. Potato chips.......

Vicki, I fed their eggs back to them for a while. I'm sure someone might argue that you're redosing them, but really? It is totally up to you on what you choose to do. You could always PM Dawg or better yet, check on the manufacturers website?

Kristi, long hairs are lots of maintenance. Not just with brushing, which can be a major headache if the cat doesn't like it, but think of, oh, say, litterbox mishaps?
sickbyc.gif
Hope you don't have any light colored carpet or furniture unless you want to be cleaning up brown streaks. Not all cats are too keen on baths either. Just sayin. And if you want a calm pet, your best bet would be to get an adult. Kittens are anything but calm. Maybe check out your local humane society. The one in Milw. waives the adoption fee if you adopt an adult. And they are already fixed and microchipped, so no big expenses in the near future. As for your old dog, they do have doggie diapers & those puppy training pads.
Dr HaHa. I said 1 cat too when Maxine found her daughter. We now have 2. Seems like her daughter needed a playmate.

See? SEE???????

Sorry to hear about your dog, BBP. I hope he's feeling better real soon.

Bigz, I think you'd look great with a tat.

I agree with Bl4. If I had the cash, I'd love to be your neighbor. Not sure if DH would like the commute, though.

Hmmmm, shall I even get started on what's wrong with Purina?????
wink.png
I'm afraid I'd have a post resembling one of FTs.
lau.gif
Basically, just check the guaranteed analysis of Purina's feed next to another feed. It is low in everything yet it is more expensive. My chickens hated it and their egg shells turned rubbery & then were nonexistant. I had to mix oyster shell directly in with the feed, but my girls still did not want to eat it. Save yourself the headache & avoid it. I think Bigfam & Vicki might have had issues also? Or I might be mistaken.

ya know. Sweet dreams. all!
