This is my ancestor altar, it looks like this year round and I talk to them every day. I have Buddha on my altar also because I enjoy reading about him and believe he gave good advice. I consider him a spirit ancestor, we believe much of the same things.View attachment 3659322
Very nicely displayed. Please excuse my ignorance but is their any significance to the skull/sugar skulls and 2 objects on left that look Tim Burton vases. Or are these just decor?

Just set up my samhain alter!
I added feathers off my dead hen,
My dead grandmas jewelry; Bracelet, and 2 rings.
Palo santo stick,
Dry leaves,
I also have 2 of these sheep ornaments that my grandmother used to have,
Día de los Muertos (Spanish for Day of the Dead) is practiced in this area, celebrated November 1-2.
Do you also place an offering on the alter of something that person was fond of? Like a shot of their favorite liquor or a favorite candy?

Thanks! I’ve been a pagan for a very long time so I have had time to collect stuff and set this up.

I just like the sugar skulls and put them there for fun, but skulls represent the dead. The Tim Burton type vases were given to me by my DIL for my birthday; they had air plants in them but I can’t keep those alive. I plan to put some dry flowers in them but they’re just decorative. Appropriate I thought for this altar.

For your ancestors you can include a male and female figure with no features or a picture frame with no picture to represent those you didn’t know or don’t have pics of. Also, if you can take a picture of a picture and print at Walmart for 14 cents off your phone. I use these figures

In sweden we have helgonasdag,, or something like that. I can't spell it :,)
I wish I had known what they liked, i'll ask around but that feels weird
''What did your dead mom like??''

Anyways! Flowers + leaves (leaves are covered by the chicken feathers), bones, jewelry, citrine and i forgot the name of the other.. even if I knew it, it's in swedish. Palo santo and candles
Fan-tailed pigeon statue has little to no meaning, just decor

Could you elaborate more on the ancestor altar? Is it for specific things, or just a way to honor the ones that have passed?
