Sorry I haven't gotten to reply- forgot about it! It looks amazing! Do update when the chickens move in.

I bought some exterior paint today: a flat brown latex, smallish can, for door and window trim, and a gallon of "SuperCoat" in a nice, semi-gloss, light green. I still have to find some exterior paint for the interior walls.

This weekend I'll measure the two windows so I can have some plexiglas panels cut to size (for the rainy season).

I have a Sweeter Heater I want to install in the new coop and use as necessary, but I haven't quite figured out where to put it, and if it needs to be suspended or attached to a wall. It's an option. I know the winters are not severe here - compared to other parts of the country - but I got it anyway some months ago and never un-boxed it.

Yesterday, most of the back yard was under an inch of water. Now it's just muddy muck with some puddles here and there. We've had quite a rain storm over the last couple of days. Wind gusts on Saturday night up to 55 mph. The small, yard umbrella I used to (try to) keep rain off the main feeder was totally ripped away from its ribs and dragged a good 20 feet across the chicken yard and up against a small grow-out coop. Inside that coop are two young chickens who were pretty freaked out about it.

Alice S. Sebright and Shirley Welsummer are still sharing the covered, Broody Box (big, plastic Kitty Litter box) in the 4x8 coop I built last summer. This is the second time Shirley has gone broody. Oh, wait, that's not about the new coop, sorry!

I hope to get started on priming the interior of the coop this weekend.

Can't wait to see the finished product. My small coop is painted light green with dark brown trim. and my large coop is painted dark brown with light green trim. I love those 2 colors together.. Looking forward to seeing it.
