Thanks for all the well wishes, it was definitely a Hallmark moment. Me stumbling on the gravel driveway in the dark, calling "HOSS", him crowing with his head stuck in the cedar tree. Ahhh love.

Now I just need more than 4 hours of sleep and all will be right with the world.

maybe he was on vacation...day trip maybe?

he prolly escaped a fiendish thingy and then wanted his breakfast!

he looks like a Hoss. what a handsome fella. if my speckled sussex saw this thread, she'd be packing for a day trip to visit!

It is indeed wonderful to read of happy endings. I'm so glad your buddy is back!
It sounds like he may have gotten in some kind of tussle. If he'll let you, check his body for any wounds (feathers hid a lot of evils) because if he does have any, he may need topical neosporin or even oral/injectable antibiotics if there are puncture wounds. You might also boost his immune system (even if all he had was a stressful encounter without serious wounds) with V&E in his water for a couple of days. A scrambled egg.

Yeah! My bantams escaped yesterday too but they can squeeze between the bars of the fence. They also were safe. How did yours get out? Do you have a net over his run if not go get a bird net at Tractor supply immediately


Thank goodness everybody's animals were recovered safely. I looked at the news and a chipanzee escaped from the zoo yesterday too! The also got him back. Must have been something in the air yesterday.

That pen looks GREAT! I am confused. How did he get out of it if it was closed? It has a roof, it is nice welded wire and everything.

I understand that he stayed in the pen but not in the coop/ hutch right?

How could he possibly have escaped that lovely pen? My bantam babies can squeeze thru that wire but surely your big rooster can't.

How did it happen? Was the door left open or was he left outside of that lovely pen altogether?
