WLH "Roo" Laid an Egg

You should call them" Lucky Charms," how lucky they were to be rescued. You have done a beautiful job growing them out. How sad that this goes on all over the world. I am too, surprised they would dump girls.

They both look like white Rock (not Leghorn) hens. That, or possibly very well managed Cornish cross, as they're pretty hefty looking birds.

How old are they?

You are so right! I recently posted asking how to deworm under Emergencies:

"The reason I'm thinking of dosing now is because my one roo is breathing with his mouth open. No noise or discharge. Maybe he's just feeling the heat more because he's the bigger of the two. The two boys are rescues from a battery operation and they would have been culled as day old chicks. Was told they wouldn't live long, but they seem healthy and happy except their legs don't seem "normal" and they don't run, they kind of hop-gallop."

Now I realise why their legs don't seem normal, it's because they are overweight and may have grown too fast. I hope I can undo any damage I may have caused

Luckily when I walk around the yard, they follow me like puppies. I'll start walking more briskly, but with breaks inbetween, so I don't give them heart attacks or injure their already strained legs
