Hello,
I received some day old hatchlings through the post yesterday and one little chick stands a bit odd. Sometimes I see her stand straight up like a duck and her legs look a bit wide. She pecks at herself on the rear, like at the back of where her hocks attach to the rest of her. When she does this she often falls on her back and sometimes she can't right herself.
Any idea if this is something I should intervene in? They already have some Vital Pack from the hatchery mixed in the water. She does eat and drink and generally follows all the other chicks around the brooder.
Here are two links to videos of her walking around.
Thank you!

Btw I originally posted this in another sub-forum, but I figured I would get more info here.

It appears just a tad weak. Do you have Poultry Nutri-drench? If not, it's what this chick needs in order to give it a boost. If you have it on hand give it a few drops.

Also, some warm sugar water would give it some energy above what the chick water additive is doing.

Doesn't seem that bad to me. Not sure what's in the vital pack you're using (vitamins? probiotics? electrolytes?) but I'd continue with that or switch to nutri drench to help her along. Hopefully she'll build her strength up over the next few days and develop without issue.

Switched to nutri-drench. This evening, hopefully by tomorrow there will be some improvement.
