Wobbly chick - keeps moving backwards

No, grit will not hurt her, she needs that in order to process anything besides chick starter. I provide grit first thing for my babies.

If she won't eat/drink, then you may need to syringe fluids into her or drip it beside her beak. A wetted qtip pressed against the beak to get liquids into her will work as well.

If she won't eat the egg, dissolve the b vitamins in a little water and sryinge that into her.
Thank you I will try that.

Vitamin deficiency...went through this just a few weeks ago, got real bad.
Start with drops of save a chick until she feels she can swallow again, she will start drinking soon.
I have been giving her drops of Sav a chick with a syringe all day. She is not any better. I even crushed up a half of vitamin B complex into it. Does anyone have any other ideas?

If it's from vitamin deficiency it takes time to recover.
You don't see any swelling of the joints at all?
Thank you! That is the encouragement that I needed. She seemed to lose control of her legs - for a while she was laying on her tummy with her legs stretched out behind. But tonight she is at least keeping them a little more under her. Her legs and feet seem a little swollen. What does that mean?

The swelling is concerning, I would to push fluids for sure.
You can also try a chick chair for short periods of time to get her more upright. Swelling could be from her not up and moving or it could be an indication of something more serious going on. It's really hard to know. The best you can do sometimes is try and if she still doesn't improve, consider quality of life.

Thank you for this. I am continuing with the drops and she has been able to drink from a small cup occasionally. She sleeps in my hand on my lap so I am able to keep her feet under her. I am hoping for the best but you mentioned “something more serious”. Just so that I am prepared, what could be the other possibilities?
