Hello! I am new to raising chickens. I bought 8 chicks about 9 weeks ago. All of them are healthy and fine except for one Bresse cockerel. He has had the wobbly walk since about 4 weeks of age. Is it safe to process and eat him later, or is this possibly caused by disease? No other chicken or duck is ill. Thank you for any help you can offer.

Welcome To BYC

What do you think he has? You mention "the wobbly walk" but I see no other indication of a description of disease that would be cause for concern.

Process him and see what the internals look like. If all looks well, then proceed to as you normally would when butchering.
If anything looks off, discard the whole bird.

Thank you for your reply. I don't see anything else wrong with him. He eats and drinks. No signs of diarrhea or anything visibly wrong except, the poor guy has trouble getting around. But he does get around :) Thank you for your advice!

You can try offering vitamin support to see if it helps with his leg issues.

Give him 1/4 tablet B-Complex and 400IU Vitamin E daily along with a treat of eggs.

Hard to know what's causing the wobbly legs - could be anything from genetics to disease.
