Woke up to 31/2 month old chick with broken? toe

One toe is looking bent and she has trouble walking. Is splinting the answer? First time around with chicks. Straws, popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners? Sports, electrical, first aid tape? Need to do something, I know. Just want to try to do it right!

One of the runts in the group started out with one broken toe as well when she was 2 weeks. I taped it-but it has done nothing for it. Now her other middle toe on the other foot is "broken", but I think it's more of a deformity? She's 5 weeks now & gets around w/a little limp. Not sure if she'll make it though. Anyway, you can try sports tape or a stick , but it may not work. Good luck.

I splinted that thing twice today. She just kept getting it off. I have secluded her from others as they started bugging her after about 1/2 an hour! So bummed! I am hoping rest will heal it enough to get her back in the group. Just am not home during the weekdays to keep splinting! Thanks for your comment. These are my first and I guess I have a lot to learn! Did your chicks accept the deformed one?
