Considering how all of my hens and chicks go crazy over mealworms, I just dont understand my 5-6 month old BO. She is the low hen out of 3, although #1 and 2 totally accept her now. They were a bit mean to her at first, and yes it was about the treats, but now they all roost together and hang out. They share snacks with her, but it is first come, first serve, and worms are on the top of the favorite list. I cant get her to try the worms, either freeze-dried or live, she will stare at it and check it out, but eventually the other two will get to it because she takes so long to decide if she wants to try it. She definitely goes after other treats. Otherwise with other treats she will try them just fine, but mealworms dont last long so she never gets to try them. I'm afraid when my two baby layers grow up and join the 3 they already know the worm routine, so she may end up not ever getting worms. This goes for grubs too. I just wish she would get her share of the protien treats. I guess next step is to pen her separately and see if she'll try it then. She's kind of slanty-cock-eyed, and has a really long neck, and is a bit twichy, She is really sweet , friendly and gentle, but maybe she's a bit cuckoo?

If you're feeding quality feed she is probably getting enough protein from that. Can you let her free range with you at her side.. then she can get her own treats.

I have a #3 who couldn't care less about worms either. The other two go completely mental for them but the third shows absolutely no interest.
