Woo-hoo! DH gave me the OK to buy ducklings!

I'll have to have a look at these other hatcheries. I was looking at Ideal, but they're in Texas, and I'm well over 1,000 miles from Texas. I'd be too worried about them not surviving the shipment.

Thanks for all the tips!

The heat would be a concern now, but we did have chicks delivered from Ideal to Massachusetts this April. I did lose two and I think the person I ordered with lost one or two but it was cold then.

Mine aren't laying yet - so if you need to "talk" someone into it - you have time.

Gotta feed the addiction ya know!

I have like 15 white runners in the bator right now - they are looking pretty good. Should be a good hatch.

And here I've been busting my butt looking for runners in my area:rolleyes:
As far as favorite breeds go I don't have one yet. Right now I have a very wide cross section of ducks that will eventually be whittled down to the breeds that fit best on the farm. I will say however that I only have one runner duck and he is absolutely a gem. I've been wanting more runner ducks so that he can breed and doesn't have to be the only one but everytime I go to a show someone gets there before I do and buys them all out!

Well when my runners (my good ones - not my fugly production ones) start laying I will let you know and send you some to get you started.

I will have more runner eggs when they start laying then I will EVER be able to sell, eat, or hatch myself.

Hi, I would love to find some runners ducks for sale. Can someone point me in the right direction. I have seen these and want them so bad.

I would love to find a place that sells ducks that are about a month or two old. I have not had good luck with the hatchilings, as they always seem to get "water logged".

I have went through about 15-20 hatchlings, and my lonely duck runner wants a friend so bad!!!!!!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I just started this spring with 4 Roeun Ducks 2F and 2 M.. 3 Geese.

All survived the trip here and I raised them, babied them.. Fun while little but when they got big, it got annoying because they wanted to follow me everywhere...lol

Couple weeks ago I ordered some Cayuga Ducks which are getting pretty good size now.. but still to small to let run wth my 2 Roeun ducks that are left.

The 2 Roeun Females got killed.. dang it.. the Snap turtle then died from lead poisoning, and some preditor got my last female (behind my back of course)..

What's funny and sad at the same time is the Roeun won't go out on my big pond.. Today I herded my little Cayugas down to the pond and they acted like ducks should act...lol... They were out having fun.. the 2 Roeun still stood on the edge slopping mud...lol

These are my new babies, Cayuga ducks.. When they get big their feathers will look like this, depending on how the light is shining on them..

Are you giving them full access to water? Ducklings aren't suppose to have full access to swimming water ONLY drinking water.. If given water to swim in unsupervised they will swim and usually chill themselves.. A few minute swim and then access to a heat lamp is fine, but that should be it.
