That is, hands down, the coolest thing, ever!
I have gotten at least one (and, lately 3) a day since their first one on the first day of Autumn, 2 weeks ago.
It took my 6 a full week of laying before I had a 3 egg day. Still no 4 egg day, but I am hopeful, every day.
BeautifulPacificNorthwest (I live there, too! and it is!) it might be weird to send pics to your friends, but not weirder than sending pics to friends and starting a whole photo album, on FaceBook, seperate from my Chicken album, just for the eggs (called the Eggs Files...hokey, I know) and taking a pic of each of the first eggs, and then them being cracked and being cooked and being eaten. My friends are positive I am certifiable, but hey, there are less constructive obsessions I could have.
Gail, I have had really good success having my girls lay in their boxes, following the advice of a friend's grandma who always hung a pant leg over the front of the boxes for privacy. The girls like it a bit dark and more secluded, and this appeals to them, and is easy. They like both the box with the fabric solid and the one I cut in strips, as some were nervous about sticking their heads into a place they couldn't see into, entirely. I now get half the eggs in each one of those. They only lay in the boxes, now (but I still have a few more to begin laying yet- hopefully they will be the copy-cats (copy-chooks) they are about everything else, and do the same thing the established layers already do.)
Way to go, ladies for the first eggs and all the subsequent ones!!!

Brightest Blessings
