Wood’s Coop / First Timers

Yep, 12x14. Taking the barn down would not be fun :hmm Speaking of barn, I have some left over siding and old corrugated metal from last Summer when we sided it so that’s the plan for the coop as well. It will look like this when it’s done. Also, yours and a few other posts pushed me towards this design, thank you!

Welcome to BYC.

Congratulations on doing your research and building such a splendid, spacious, well-ventilated coop.
Thanks! We’ve been wanting chickens from the time we moved out of town 5 yrs ago. The deal was when I finished the house we could get some. Well...I’ve been trying to build a house on my days off for the past 5 yrs...then I started a pole barn....then I had 1/2 a house and 1/2 a barn....I figured we’d be finished up by June so I ordered chicks for May 24th delivery. We built a brooder and it was just sitting there ready and my daughter and I just couldn’t take it any longer. We bought 6 chicks at our local Murdoch’s. Two died so we bought more. Then I bought a few on the way home from TX; then a few more from a local breeder in NM. And of course Murdoch’s had a few “other breeds” we needed. I woke up one morning with 25 chicks saying what the #%!! Just happened! Needless to say I called the hatchery yesterday and cancelled the original order of 16! Below is how it all started....
