Hello..

I read somwhere that wood ashes (from the fireplace) help to prevent parasites in our chickens. I use to throw them at my backyard eventually as fertilizer and now muy hens are dust bathing there.

Could be any problem whit it?

Regards from Spain

From what I have read on here, they should be fine.

So long as they not contaminated with anything nasty (no charcoal briquette ash for instance) then wood ashes make a great dust bath. It will help to deter some forms of mites and lice, but that's as far as it goes. They do nothing for internal parasites.

Very good idea as long as it is outside with fresh air. Also note no fire starter brick residue in the ash highly poisionous.
