My husband turns wood on his lathe and makes bowls. He uses mostly cherry, walnut, ash and birch. He does NOT use cedar. He ends up with a mountain of wood shavings and we've been using it in the flower beds. I thought I'd use it in the hen house too as bedding. Does this sound ok?

Hardwood chips won't be as absorbent as softwood chips, but the price is definitely right.
