Hi:

Im building 9x10 run for my chickens ,mostly out of 2x4 material below are the plans for it, the orange color is material I plan on using Pressure treated since its ground contact.

I don't want to get in a discussion about Pressure Treated wood in coops Ive done the research and fine with it. My question is I don't plan on staining or painting the wood so should I go with pressure treated for all the 2x4 members or regular fir just fine, it will weather grey but will it hold up?. Thinking of going with PT just because it already has some color to it.

Pressure treated wood will last about 30 years. Non treated and non painted wood will last about 10 years and start to look sad. We are talking about pine, or fir lumber. Other woods like cedar or cypress will last outdoors a long time unpainted.
I personally would do ALL in treated lumber.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :highfive:

I agree with the others, PT for all exposed framing members if you’re not painting.

Note that some places have cedar colored PT lumber these days, which would look nice... not sure about the cost difference though

I am putting one together right now. I think you are making the right call using PT on ground contact and post. I just picked up some 1x2x8 rough cut pine from the amish for cheap to use for the cross rails (I will paint this). I was going to go all PT, but it is crazy expensive right now.

Every single bit of my coop and run is made with pressure treated wood. Not all pressure treated wood is the same. Some PT wood is rated for ground contact. The 4x4s supporting the coop and the the 4x4s that are the base of the 16'x8' run are rated as ground contact.
