wood used for roof?

I was thinking anout covering my run. I can get these wide pieces of wood for pretty cheap so I was thinking about taking them and laying them down on the top of the run with maybe 2x4s across the front to provide pitch and maybe another one in the middle to support. Then cover the wood with tarps to protect them. What do you think about this idea?

well if you can get it for free and then accept that you'll have to make repairs/replace to the roof every year or other year then that could work. but a piece of wood with a tarp isn't a long term solution by itself.

Corrugated tin from HD is pretty cheap and works well for me.
