Woods on Wheels- update- *added more photos**

Very cool setup. If it was mine, I would have to fight the urge to hookup to it and take the chickens to town.

Ok. I was looking for my thread, and realized I never updated. *oops*

We have since trimmed the overhang on the top roof.

Pic of the run looking towards open front. I swept/shoveled the run after snow, but my spoiled brats didn't like to walk on it unless it was over 30 degrees.

Pic of inside. I have since added 4 nest boxes with roosting space above off the floor on the left side of the coop- directly across from the other nest boxes.

During the summer last year, we added a window on the back wall of the coop, which is outlined with door weather stripping to make sure the window is sealed shut. It stays open all summer.

I picked up one of these in Lowe's, to make sure I managed the crazy humidity issues coupled with plunging temperatures. We had a lot of days where it would be snowy and foggy with temps just below freezing, then plunge to under 5 degrees F (no wind to circulate air). Perfect frostbite conditions. As the sun went down, I would run outside and open all the windows to get the moist air out. I could watch the humidity gge drop to "normal" levels (or the same as relative humidity outside) and then close all the windows. The outdoor temp when this pic was taken was about 5 degrees.

In the winter, it was always about 10 degrees warmer in the coop than outside. The coop is under a stand of oaks. This provides shade in the summer, and allows light to pass into the coop in the winter when the leaves drop. I use a heated dog bowl in the winter. In the summer when the coop is shaded, the temps are the same or cooler than outside temps. I am so glad I decided to go with this coop.
