ETA: new Pics !
Added some paint, inside and out. There are 31 chicks in the brooder inside the coop. Soon the plastic will come off the open window end. Next week we will start on the first of 3 runs.

These are just a few pics I took with my phone. I will be creating a full build out web site once we are done. Lots more pics to come.

This is an 8x16 Woods style coop with extra over hang. The coop is being built in the rainy part of Oregon for MiL.

With all the rain they get I wanted to give the hens plenty of space out of the rain so I am building the coop about 2ft off the ground.

Most of the South side will remain open year round. There are also the two south facing windows in the top and 4 windows on the sides. Should be plenty of air flow.

This is where I had to leave it after 8 days of solid work. Still need to build the top windows, stairs, nest boxes, and roosts. Also need to add some more trim here and there. Eventually it may dry out enough to paint it too.
For now it will have to wait as the weather man is predicting the worst storm in 20 years or so.

As always feel free to comment or ask questions.

Well done! I can't wait to see more.

Looks fantastic. I started a new larger coop last fall and the winter set in exceptionally hard here in NY. I can't wait for snow to melt and warmer weather so I can pick up where I left off. I'm surprised to see no snow at all in your photos. Must be nice..... but then again you all get tons of rain. Keep up the good work on your coop!

Like your design. The upper awning (?) windows facing south is a great feature for both solar gain and ventilation. Are the windows going to be set up on a lever system or maybe a thermostat? There are gonna be some happy chickens in there soon. I'll keep an eye for more posts. Thanks for sharing.
