Woods-style house in the winter

Pics
Haven't read all the posts, but looked at the pics. That's an incredible coop! It looks beautiful and functional. One of the nicest coops I've seen on here or in books. Well done! Absolutely stunning.

Jacke, when my daughters bought me some pullets for easter it was time for a coop, found this forum. Started looking at coop designs and come across your very nice coop, I thought this is the one. By the way thanks for the inspiration, so now I have a coop similar to yours when I get enough post I will put some pic's up. Thank's again, Tim

Honestly, this is one of the most beautiful and thoughtfully designed coops that I've seen posted. I really like it. It's now on my dream list. Thank you for sharing the photos, the information, your experience and your resources.

Now that's a all weather coop!

Thanks for the compliments. I have 18 2mo old pullets in there now. (2GLW, 2SLW, 4 BarredRocks, 4 BuffOrps,4 SpeckledSussux, 2 EEs) They have been in the coop for a couple of weeks. I let them out last weekend, and more than a couple of them didn't seem to understand that when the sun goes down, They should go back into the house. We tried to "Herd" them in. We might as well tried to herd a dozen cats. Had to wait until it was almost dark, Then we could just pick them up and put them in. We're going to let them out this weekend, and see if they learned anything.

I would so love a coop like that, where did we ever get the mind set that they had to be completely closed in? Of course most of us [me] never raised chickens till now so we or I didn't have inspiration on what was the best coop design, Now I know this has to be it. Too bad my coop is already built, but maybe not too late to make changes..

What a fabulous design - I wouldn't want it any other way but I live in Vancouver, WA... we have a 3 chick limit here and since I have a few nasty neighbors,

I refuse to push my limit.

Wonder how this type of coop could be decreased in size, but without the loss of the excellent design and spacious feel? Guess I'll have to put my thinking cap on and try to figure that one out...

I checked out the book link - it's pretty nifty. Be fun to get my hands on one of those books as a first run printing. I'll have to check Powell's Bookstore... thank you for the inspiration though - think I've looked at your pix a half a dozen times already!
