Woody the confused polish chick

That's a polish chicken for ya!! I'm allowed to say that because polish are my favorite breed and I have plenty of them

I have a young bird right now who, even though he got a haircut only a few days ago, still thinks he can't see anything. I can't tell you how many things he ran into just today

Another one of my chicks gets jealous when my duckling jumps into my hand... She'll come over, jump in my hand, and sit on the duck til he moves

So these guys are dumber than the average bird? I knew they were wacky, but I didn't know they were dimmer than a 40 watt bulb...

I don't think they're dumb, just goofy.

It's part of their charm...they are an acquired taste, though. Mine will be calm one second, then start spastically flapping their wings out of nowhere, scaring the you-know-what out of the other birds, and rush over to each other, play-fighting! I had a chick who would peep very loudly every time I left the room. Needless to say, I spent alot of time with her.

I have one adult Polish hen and one Polish chick (about 4 weeks old). I agree, they are crazy!

They tend to move like robots...nothing in their movements is smooth...they are goofy and lovable all at the same time. And yes, they tend to run straight into things...neither of mine have feathers over their eyes!

The other day I watched my Polish Hen run full-speed right into my Black Americana...it was like some kind of football tackle. The Polish just bounced off of the Americana and kept on running. It was hilarious.

And then last night, as we were closing up the coop, my boyfriend hurt his hand on a latch on the outside of the coop...I swear on my Father's grave...we heard the Polish hen laugh at him.

If just one of us had heard it, we would have thought the other one was crazy.
