She is on day 7 and doing great! I have to say this is much easier than having eggs in an incubator. I don't feel worried like I did when I was "hatching" eggs.
I can't wait to see my little Welsummer babies!
I haven't candled these eggs (except when they arrived) and I don't know if I will. I really just want to leave her alone to do her thing. What do you guys usually do?
i'm jealous of all your broodies!!! i hope my buff goes broody after she starts to lay because incubators are seeming to be too complex for me. any ideas on how long they will take to go broody after they start to lay?

Broody hens are definetely the way to go.....if you can get one. Some hens will never go broody no matter what the breed. While BO's tend to go broody, you just never know. I have 6 buff orpington hens and one is broody. I had one go broody last summer about 2-3 months after she started to lay. She gave up on the eggs about half way through. My current broody hen is just over a year old.
