Their combs are showing lol 4 weeks old.
Things have't panned out or else they'd be running free but they have bigger area.

We think the dark egger hen in extra photo is the mom of the black one as she's the only one dark enough, and lays the right color egg it came from lol

How old are they now?

Does she still call them to feed them insects she caught?
Right at 4 weeks. She's sitting on them right now (630am 58dF) she barely calls them for insects/scratching, I know they can wean at 4 it's just different this time round as last few times she had 8week olds under her in coop lol

They'll be chirping their heads off and she's just lolly gagging around lol

Good thing is her age group keeps them from being picked on by the younger group of adults.

Yes, my momma hens also wean their chick at varying ages, some as early as 4 weeks, others still not weaning after 4 months with their little cockerels already crowing 😆

But I noticed that they tend to wean earlier when there are more male chicks, I think they get annoyed by their constant fighting and posing.
And it is the most annoying male chicks that get pecked first when they start to wean them.
