wool rug hooking

It was the 2nd or 3rd thread this morning.
Did you get into rug hooking? You may be able to direct me to great kits...

Huh. Someone has been digging in the archives.

I did not end up getting into rug hooking. I made contact with a couple of local ladies who do classes, but then just got too busy to go play. I always have a ton of projects going, so I kind of moved on to other things. I'm trying to work my pile down smaller.

Good luck though. Perhaps there are classes near you as well.

I just ordered the rooster and rose beginners kit...I'm so excited to try this. Thanks for the info!

I have started shopping around for rug kits as well. I love fiber arts, and my Mom did a bunch of rug hooking when I was younger.
Etsy has a lot of really cute kits. Ebay does as well, and they are fairly inexpensive.
On Etsy, these are some cuties:

I found a lady on my local Craigslist who was selling them for $2 a kit, but they smelled like cigarettes & were covered in cat hair.

I will be following this thread, as I am also interested in getting started.
The man in my life is doing a 2,663 mile hike this April, and I need LOTS of projects to keep me busy until his return in October.

Let me know how it goes.
I ordered a trio of sheep kit and a larger kit with trees and a border of leaves, but have to finish a few custom knit projects and record a CD before I can get too involved in new projects.

I finished the flower and about 1/2 done with the rooster. I'm hooked on hooking! But the kits are so expensive! They were really small, I'd like to do something a little bigger but they are soooo expensive. I like the lady on etsy but she doesn't include the wool. I wonder how much a cutter is and where to find it...

I've been seeing cutters on CL here by me for weeks. I know when I am ready to buy them they'll be gone.
I still have rug hooking on hold until my sweater is done, and the special order socks I have to make. Then I'll start work on rugs.

I've been looking for bigger kits that come with wool etc.. and I came across this site. Awesome. My next purchase with be the sunflower kit that comes with a sit on stand! It's $199 BUT if you were to buy JUST the stand it was like $160 something. The frame/stand is going to make this much easier. Here's the link: http://www.rughooking101.com/

That is a great deal! Thanks for the tip.
I had a great floor stand in college, but a roommate ended up with it somehow... You know how that stuff goes. They make life SO much easier.
