WoooHooo Day 18 for my serama eggs(update)

SnM
don't give up!
mine are still hatching and it's day 21!!!
they didn't start piping until late day 19 and then slowly started to hatch but now it's picking up - i've got little seramas everywhere!
so hang in there kiddo.

and if this batch doesn't work out for you, maybe you and i can buy some new eggs from frank together and hatch em in the R-COM?

but seriously, hang in there, you may be pleasantly surprised over the next two days!

you guys are the best. only one serama chick hatched. all others looked like the stoped developing around day 15. thanks frank you and fallenweeble are the best. fallenweeble, that would be great. i would really appriciate that. ohh and how many chicks do you got now?

Mine too Oakman. I've been very good about letting them be. But after the 6th grade dance I'm chaperoning tomorrow after school I'm off from work for till after they hatch!! AAaaaah I'm going to have to keep really really busy!

hey SnM - i am so sorry about your hatch. i was hoping we would both have bators full of little babies on the same day.

as of right now i have 15 serama chicks, 1 silkie and 2 of the ones you gave me (what ARE they? - i can't remember!).

one little serama is in the bator trying her darndest to hatch and i am assisting a bit because she is too big for her egg - we'll see if she makes it. plus there is one more serama egg that pipped today so we'll see if that one makes it out.

to be honest with you i ended up having to help many of the serama get out of their eggs. i guess because the eggs are so small there just isn't as much room for them to zip. i had one poor baby who pipped yesterday, i didn't see it because the chicks rolled the egg over, and the baby died in the egg because it couldn't move to zip the egg open.

i really had to "stay on" those eggs hour by hour. (and this being my FIRST hatch i was literally learning moment by moment. i killed two chicks by helping too aggressively . . . sigh . . . it's a delicate balance for sure.)

anyway, don't be too discouraged. whenever you are ready to get some eggs from frank we can figure out the logistics and i can hatch them out in the r-com. just let me know when you are ready okay?

keep that chin up kiddo.

Aw sorry you lost some Fallen. I'm going to be a wreck when mine start pipping. I sure hope there will be someone in chat when it's happening to support me!

Thanks weeble i will let you know when im ready(i gotta save up,hehehe). Anyways those eggs i gave you were Partridge cochin bantams. and sorry for your losses

thanks hen23 and SnM - the losses are sad indeed but it's hard to be too unhappy with so many adorable little fluffy butts running around the brooder! all in all for my first hatch i think it was pretty successful!

i'm keeping my fingers crossed for ya hen!

Thanks! I'm nervous but excited. I keep reminding myself I'm doing the best I can. I do have ordered chicks coming in April. There will be fluffsters here one way or another!
