Working on a coop expansion in the heat **Update with progress pics**

Well, we began the major work this morning, up at 6:45 on a Saturday to beat some of the heat. We have begun assembling much of the pieces we made through the week and are currently on a lunch break. Again we are only able to go for maybe an hour at the most as temps approach the 90's, but all is going well. Here are a few pics of our progress.

This is what we started out with at 6:45 this morning. This pic was from the day we completed it. 4x4, with 8x4 run, plus a run under the coop. Notice no gate in the run... yeah, I'm a real genius.

Here is the back wall with two nice large windows in it for viewing and ventilation. You can see my egg gathering door there on the old section.

Here is the front wall, with an access door. You can also see the the end wall we removed from the old coop with the pop door. We will just add it to the end of the new addition and not have to make a new wall for that.

Here's a shot from inside the old section looking out. You'll notice the wall studs still in place. we are going to leave them in for now and attach chicken wire so we can move our lavender orps out of the house and keep them seperated from the older BR's.

That's it for now. I was just informed that I am making lunch. Update later. We hope to have it all wrapped up by supper time.

Well we got is done, though a little later than we hoped. we do have to put roofing on yet, and paint the new part, but structurally it is complete. A couple of issues popped up on assembly of the walls. It came to show that I am not a master carpenter when all the corners weren't quite perfect. I will fix them as the chicken file their grievances.

Around 7:00 the chickens began looking for the run so they could start preparing for the night. We stopped what we were doing and attached the ramp and slid the run back into place. Now, we did have the run continue under the coop, but decided to block that off now since they are free ranging now. This threw them a little and they were a bit "lost" in the new run area. It took some time and a few mis starts before they finally all went into the remodeled home.
They looked around a bit, noticed the old section fenced off with the little ones in it and then saw the roost I put in for them. They never had a roost before. Up, up, up, up, up. All 5. They settled down and looked content. That's how I left them. I will get pics tomorrow as it was getting dark.

looking good, glad you are able to beat the heat. keep up the good work, and dont over do it out there. waiting for update pics!
