Working out their pecking order I guess

While using our new tiller yesterday I noticed that some of our birds are doing a little dance with each other. They face one another, and kind of stand up real tall and go in circles. Usually one of them then "looses" and runs off to sulk. All of them are pullets and are the same age (12 ½ weeks old). Am I reading this behaviour correctly?

Sounds right to me. At least they are settling it without bloodshed so far. Try watching them as they go to roost and you will REALLY see the pecking order being established.

They have four roosting limbs. Each is higher than the other. They all occupy the top two. I've never seen them haggle over that yet but they only seem to roost there during the night after I've closed their pop door for the night. They are funny to watch.
