Hello everyone! We are city dwellers who are working to change the chicken laws in our suburb of Portland, Oregon. Many of the burbs around us allow chickens, and Portland does as well, but Tualatin does not . . . yet. I'd love any input about how to go about changing this. I'm not a political person, just a chicken lover. We raised six Buff Orpingtons with the understanding that it was legal here. But we found out that we were misinformed, and now are being forced to give up our lovely girls. We are not going down without a fight, though, and our hope is to change the law and get our chickens back.

Thanks for any advice, input or encouragement!

Hi and :welcome

I have no experiences with ordinances, but there are plenty of people who do. Do a search, there are a lot of threads about changing them.

I found this site, not sure if it would help you:

Good luck!

I hope you find all the info you need here, and enjoy the site. :D

Try posting this in the Oregon thread on forum Where am I, where are you?

I agree with all the others! Especially run a search or take a peek into the Local Laws & Chicken Ordinances thread. I hope you find something helpful (as I don't know much about that sort of thing). More places need to allow chickens!!

And welcome to BYC! :)
