World's Oldest Cat 39?

DH was given a kitten when he was 12 that cat got hit by a car when he was 38. So Bunky was 26 and still hunting , that's what he was doing when he got hit by the car.

There is a guinness book of world records entry for hte oldest cat...something like 33 or 34 years old, so I would assume it is possible. A friend of mine had a cat that lived to be 26 or 27 years, which doesn't seem to be too uncommon these days (not the average, but not unheard of either).

My sister and her DH found a stray full grown cat on their doorstep.
They took Bob to the vet, got him fixed, shots and so on. The vet guessed he was atleast 3 years old.
Bob died last year after 21 years at my sister's house. So he was atleast 24 years old and going strong.

We have two 7-year-olds, one who is 13, and my oldest, Pumpkin, will be 17 in May. She is the oldest cat i've ever owned. Although, i have met folks that say their cats are in their early twenties. i just didn't realize it was possible for any cat to reach the upper 20's or make it into their 30's. That's good news, as i would like to have all my cats around for a good long time.

I am not too sure if I believe that. Oh well.
IMO, the only good cat, is a barn cat.

Well gosh, my daughter has a cat who 18 and she recently paid to have some expensive vet care which I thought was ridiculous because I didn't think the cat had too many years left in her. This story sort of makes me wrong don't it?
