I tried to post a picture but I'm not sure how so I can email it if anyone wants to see..

I went out to the chicken coop to discover the smallest egg I have haver seen! it is compared to a quarter and a regular big brown egg. IT IS TINY! how does this happen?? I have babies but they are only about a month old, can they lay that early for any reason?

I have had this happen a couple times. When I opened the tiniest one there was just a tiny bit of yolk. I think they are just bloopers. Their reproductive systems are not perfect so there will be strange eggs sometimes. It is exciting to get unusual eggs! [IMG]

I get those sometimes also. Tiny like a small bird egg. My dad always told me that happens either when the hen is first starting to lay, or stop laying, one or the other. Usually no yolk seen.. or just a speck.

    Oops, missed that "month" part.

Do wild birds have access to your coop, or could it have fallen from a birds nest near your coop?
