Worm under surface of skin

Oh, ok that’s interesting. I will try the ivermectin then. I’m only seeing 1.87 % as the lowest strength. Do you think that would be ok? I really appreciate your help!

I think that LaFleche may have an answer. Feather shafts can be blue. It would be good to know what that is.
That might be why it is painful to the touch.
Welcome to BYC. You could try to remove it or watch it to see if it grows or changes. Ingrown feathers can become abscessed.
Thank you! I will do that. This little hen is going to get a lot of sits bathes in the next while. 😄
Hopefully I will be able to detect what is going on.

It does look like an ingrown feather shaft. I've encountered these from time to time in my flock because I handle all my chickens a lot. They can be painful depending where they are on the body. They are just under the very thin outer layer of skin. Taking a razor blade or Xacto knife, make a little nick in the skin right over the feather, use a toothpick or tweezers to free it, and it will pop out. Use a little wound ointment on the cut, and it's all good.
