I tried searching this but no success. I figured since egg production goes down during moults is that a good time to worm the chickens? That is my plan unless someone says that it is too much stress on the chickens to worm them while they are moulting. If it can be done (I've never wormed them since I've had them last April) I plan to do all my feathered fowls- I have, chickens, geese, ducks and turkeys. I will read up on the directions once I get a hold of the product. Your opinion is appreciated.
Thanks

I know that panacur/fenbendazole/Safeguard can cause feather deformities in molting birds, or so I've read. I dont know about Invermectin, Eprinex, Wazine, etc. It would seem a good time, but since worming is hard on their bodies, as is molting, unless you have a definite reason to do so, seems it'd be better to wait, at least to me.

Thanks for replying. I kind of wondered that. I seem to have feathers everywhere but no naked bird yet. So the thought just occured to me.

I've used Ivermectin to worm chickens, during molt. I use the injectable liquid, 1%. I put it in their drinking water, 2 cc's per gallon, for 2 days. It will get rid of both internal and external parasites, so if there are any mites or anything, it'll get rid of those, while you're at it.

I clean the coop at the same time, and either spray with neem spray, or powder with DE.

I never thought of worming being hard on them, though. I wonder if it slows them down getting back to normal? I'd think it might help speed it up, if they had any kind of parasite load, because they'd be rid of them.

Cayenne Pepper;

It`s a natural wormer. Mix it heavily with your feed to turn it rusty looking. Pepper in the front, worms run out the back. Chickens don`t have the heat resceptors like most critters, so they eat it up. Worms, on the other hand, heh, heh. You can still eat the eggs. Repeat in 10 days to get the new worms, then about every six months for mainainance. And don`t forget the second dose. Not hard on moulting birds at all.......Pop
