Worming Chicks?

I have 15 chicks that are 6 weeks old . Was wondering at what age they should be wormed?

I was told by a vet that you can start worming them aged around 5 weeks old. I wouldn't worm them unless they have been exposed to outside soil and possibly got infected by worms though, as worming is a bit rough on them.
