Worming ducks

I am on the worm routinely team-I like the idea of natural methods with my chickens and ducks, so I do give them good feed and herbs, but I decided I am not risking my animals health when it comes to lice/mites or worms so I am doing a yearly maybe twice yearly worming. When I first started I believed what I read about natural wormers an DE, but the more I read I am not convinced. I quit with the DE and even though my chickens were eating melons and pumpkins I noticed a couple of them gaping. I gave them each oral safeguard and then next day they quit gaping. I did follow up 10 days later with Valbazen. I read it was rare for birds to get gapworm, but these chickens were kept very clean and fresh food and water daily. They were in a new coop and run, no other chickens have been on this property, they were 13 weeks old at the time. I wormed them just in case and since they stopped gaping the next day, I think they had them.
