first yes my math is not exact but then with DE you can't over feed it

so I used it that way then it is good to go
2-5% DE to amt of feed daily

DE is used as executing the adult worms in the gut by going thru the gut daily and the diadems knick the soft skinned worms and dehydrate them and the chickens body will use the dead worms as proteins

and NO the DE does not need to be done and eggs thrown away and does not decrease egg production
in turn the DE is a mineral and calcium item the gut extracts from the DE

and as for the first chemical worming with wazine or piperzine

really do as "Three horses" says as if you see worms then do the 1 worming today with wazine
wait 10 days and do the Ivermectin or some other chemical wormer
besides wazine or piperzine
the last two only worm for round worms

this is one of the wormings for this yr
then in late fall do this two step worming again

only needs done twice a yr by chemical wormer as they go to the blood stream and kill the worm larvea
then the DE goes and kills the adult worms that get by

as for using cayenne wormer as herbal wormer

the herbal wormer listed is about 90% cayenne pepper and sold from England

if a person would have wormed in late summer early fall the birds would have been molting and egg production would have been off any ways
so it is ideal time to worm

Besure and do the wet mash probiotics on the days after worming till nexr worming and then do it again after worming

so the chickens body builds up good gut flora and excellent eggs

you could boil the eggs for the dogs and the wormer would go into their system also
do not feed them back to the chickens as that only adds the wormer back into their bodies

YES EGGS CAN BE INCUBATING WHILE THE WORMER IS GIVEN TO THE CHICKENS

it does not stop fertile eggs from growing in the incubator

Yes. I read something about hatchability but can't recall it. There wasn't anything on them being unsafe at all. I think it was a statement that they're still hatchable. I'd remember if they weren't.

But, for the sake of discussion, if your birds have worms I'd be more concerned about die-off mid hatch due to a lack of nutrients in the yolk than anything else. Worms decrease egg hatchability because worms steal nutrients essential for hatchability.

So you might have decreased hatchability but not likely d.t. the worming product.

p.s. Did I mention I LOVE hatchability discussions?

Hello, I am not used to the site. I am replying to a 7 year old post on using de-worm on laying hens. I believe it said not to eat the eggs for 14 days after worming. I was told at the "quality" no problem I can eat the eggs. We did and now I am concerned for my family. Can it harm you? wazine 17

It's still probably safer than store bought eggs. But in the future don't eat eggs when the hens are on that stuff.
