Help with deworming, please! I noticed roundworms in the droppings of my quarantine hen about a week ago. I was recommended by a local chicken breeder to use equimax horse wormer paste to treat her. I'm also treating the other hen who came with her. Only issue I'm having is that it seems like there's no dead worms being eliminated. Not sure if that's common or not. Started researching and am realizing that this particular wormer is used mostly for tapeworms. It does have ivermectin in it though. Will this still work for roundworms. Do I treat again in 10 days? Conflicting info online. They are at the end of their 30 day quarantine this weekend, but I just want to make sure they are in the clear before I start introductions to my flock. Thanks!

How much are you giving the chickens? Ivermectin should be repeated at about 10 days, but it should take care of the worms. You may not see any in the droppings. The best way to assess the efficacy of your dewormer is to do a fecal exam about 2 weeks after the last dose, or have your vet do one.

I did a pea sized amount for each of them. Thanks for the info, that really helps!
