What do you use and how often? I have chickens, geese, and turkeys of different ages (plus peachicks soon) who free range together but they can all be penned to make sure they get medicated. Would prefer something that i can mix into food or water.

I won't worm without taking in a flock fecal sample to the vet for a float to identify load and species... in order to make sure I am treating for what I have and NOT what I don't. Not all meds treat all species of worm AND not all locations will have the same environmental factors. Use a med that works and NOT hokus pokus like DE, pumpkin seed, or hot peppers.

Also, I never JUST worm on a schedule, especially with the same drug as parasites build resistance and it may not work when you need it to.

Sorry I'm no help with which med to use for which internal parasite... But I can tell you that only 2 types of worms can be seen in dropping. Tape worm and Large round worms, and then only under heavy load. All others will stay in the intestines and ONLY their microscopic oocysts (eggs) will pass in the dropping.

External parasites should also be checked for upon occasion. Looking after roost, after dark, using a flashlight and part feathers under the vent to look for things crawling away or clumps of "dirt" (eggs) near the base of the feather shafts. Some parasites are microscopic (scaly leg mite) while some others don't live on the bird (red mite) and only come out to feed at night. So it's important to look at the clues as well as looking for the pests.

Hope this is helpful and that you are enjoying BYC! :)

This is possibly the most detailed and helpful answer I've gotten in my time on BYC! Thank you so much!
