Worms and Sudden Illness??

You can also use Safeguard paste as a follow up to the wazine in about 2 weeks. Use a BB size piece of the paste and put it on the side of their beak. I prefer to use Ivermectin pour on as a follow up to wazine. Ivermectin wont kill tapeworms, but it kills pretty much everything else. When I first used wazine, I also noticed that it quickly transformed the hens from being lethargic to hens acting like chickens should.

Just a lil secret..Wazine will expell adult roundworms faster than any of the broad spectrums..Think about this when you have a bird with a suspected heavy worm load

Well, good news and bad news this time. The good news is I got her to eat a little over 3 tps of medicine water with egg yoke. She seemed to be a bit more alert and even stood up to itch (I assume that's what she was doing) her back and belly. Bad news is there was more of the green poo. This time it seemed to be closer together though, like maybe there's not as much liquid in the poo as there was earlier. Of course, that could be because she hadn't really drank all that much until a few hours ago. The green bits in the poo are grass colored and still look kind of like caterpillar poo.

the dose on the label for wazine says for 100 birds (4-6 weeks 30ml to one gallon of water......60ml in 2 gallons for chicks older than 6weeks which still comes out to 30ml per gallon of water if you have less than 100 chickens do you reduce the dose to say 50 chicks age 4 months would get wazine 30 ml in 2 gallons of water or what is the correct dose for less than 100 chickens?????

Wazine- 2 fluid ounces per 2 gallons of water, just like the directions say, whether you have 10 chickens or 100 chickens.I have 2 gallon plastic containers purchased from walmart just for this purpose.Remember, wazine is a mild wormer that paralyzes, not kills roundworms.Needless to say i dont have 100 chickens, just a small flock of 18.Dont forget to follow up in 2 weeks with safeguard or ivermectin to kill leftover worms that developed from roundworm eggs/larva.I also throw my eggs away for about 1.5 month.I've been doing this for several years with no issues.

Last night before I went to bed I checked on her again. There was more of the dark green poop. This time it's a lot more solid and compact like poo normally is, it's just spinach colored and I could see little stringy worms in it. I'm glad to see she's passing worms, but the spinach color has me concerned. She did seem more alert again though.

Thanks for the update. Is she eating at all? I'd give her the wazine again today and tomorrow since she's got such a bad case.
Her alertness is a good sign! The green poo might be because she hasn't eaten. Try to get her to eat something, maybe egg or even canned corn...just to see if she has an appetite.
If she does eat, then maybe try chick starter for a week since it's got more protein than layer.
Keep us posted.

Yes, the wazine for 6 wk+ chickens is 2 ounces to 2 gallons. 1 ounce=2 tablespoons. So 2 tablespoons wazine in 1 gallon of water.
I mix up a gallon then pour in several smaller waterers so they all get some.

She's only passed a few little skinny worms, the worms in the picture that I posted were in the poop of one of the chickens out in the coop.

This morning she drank about 2 teaspoons of mixture (water, Wazine, Duramycin & hard boiled egg yoke) from the dropper. At Noon she ate almost a full ounce, still from the dropper, and I mixed a pinch of starter/grower crumbles in. A few hours ago she "ate" close to two teaspoons again, a little bit ago she wasn't all that interested in drinking anything from the dropper. She kept turning her face away from me and even hopped out of my lap and took a few steps back towards her crate.

I tried feeling around to see if I could feel anything that felt like it could be blocking her up...but she just seems to be all bones and feathers still. I feel so bad.

Does she have free choice water and food in her crate? She may eat and drink on her own while your at work. May be tired of the dropper.

Also, have you treated her for lice & mites? She may have an infestation sometimes not seen by the naked eye.
I learned this the hard way yesterday. Had to bring in my rooster as he was at the losing end of a fight with another. As I was treating his minor wounds, I noticed mites crawling all over his white feathers! I immediately treated him with ivomec Eprinex (1/10th cc at the base of his neck) and 5% sevin dust. I feel just awful knowing my chickens have mites. Now I know why they are losing weight.
I will treat the rest tonight when they roost, along with the coop tomorrow.
