I would not worry about 12 day old chicks having worms.
Like @dawg53 said above...this is NOT a roundworm.
Oops! Sorry! To clarify, the chicks are 4 1/2 weeks old. They've been in that run for about 12 days, though, which is long enough for immature worms to be present, and they do quite a bit of damage.
I was actually wondering about my classification earlier today, so I checked out this page: http://www.differencebetween.info/difference-between-earthworm-tapeworm-and-roundworm and it didn't help. I wish I had preserved it so I could look at its texture more closely and check for segmentation, because that picture isn't quite clear to me. But enough of you are on this bandwagon that I'm going to call it a day!
