Worms? *gross picture*

Option C is to guess the weight of the flock, calculate dose based on that, mix the dose with water, make mash for hens. Most of my hens love it when I add water to their crumbles or pellets.

Five chickens at six pounds each would be a 30 pound flock. The amount I would give to treat roundworms is 0.8 ml per chicken 3 days in a row, or 4 ml mixed up in their daily mash three days in a row.

I saw your calculation from 2013 where you weigh paste on a kitchen scale. My dewormer is liquid. How can I measure 2.5 ml of it? Should I just buy a syringe at the drug store?

2.5 ml is ~1/2 teaspoon if that's easier for you. Drug stor should also have oral dosing syringes. Here in the US drug stores don't sell injection syringes without a prescription, so we have to ask for oral ones.

Trust me, the wormer you have is the correct one. It's the exact same thing as the Safeguard goats, which is what I use. :)

Cool, I'll just go with 1/2 teaspoon then. Two more questions:

Can I also double it without concerns or is your dosage already over the minimum? (I don't want to not give them enough).
I can put it on 5 pieces of bread and individually feed it to them, right?

Thanks so much for your help!

The 2.5 ml amount is the very conservative amount. I often use almost twice as much for five days in a row when I want to treat for capillary worms. Do your best to make sure that each hen gets her dose.

Gonna treat the girls tomorrow. One last question: for how long will I have to throw their eggs away, and will I have to repeat the 3day treatment in 14 days?

Good questions... Some people do repeat in 10 days, some do not, and I'm not sure what the correct answer is.

As for withdrawal, the product you are using is approved for laying hens in the UK with zero day withdrawal when really small doses are given for 6 days in a row. Dose is so small that it doesn't actually treat some types of worms. You're giving 30x that dose for three days, I give 50x for 3-5. I think most people in the US wait 14 day after last dose, but it's up to you.
