worms? how to treat layers??

I think my flock may have worms, there are a few very skinny hens. I haven't been able to spend much time with them because of pregnancy complications and all my DH knows to do is feed them.

The coop is in desperate need to be cleaned out and they have lice, I could tell for sure on that. : ( I am so bummed! I need to know how to worm them and I am going to get the kids and DH to treat them with Adams (since I should prob stay away from Adams being pregnant) I am also going to get them to clean the coop! It HAS to be done and it's def something I can't do.

What is the best and most effective way to worm them? Keep in mind they are our laying flock. Thanks!!!

I just treated mine with Wazine, which I hear is not too effective. But that was 2 weeks ago and she has had problems laying ever since. It could be something else I suppose, but it she stopped laying a day after giving her wazine, started 1 week later for 3 days then she stopped again. So be aware and I'd check on that.

I saw worms in one hens poo. So I'm treating with wazine then 2 weeks later with a pea sized ball of safe guard.. One treatment of wazine won't kill off all the worms that's why I'm treating again with safeguard.

what is safeguard? I haven't heard of it.....

Safe guard is a equine paste, it's a worming paste for horses.

Safeguard is a broad spectrum wormer that kills most worms that chickens can get. There is safeguard liquid goat wormer, safeguard equine paste wormer and there is safeguard pellets that can be mixed in feed. The easiest way to worm chickens is dosing them with liquids, orally. Dosage for the safeguard liquid goat wormer is given orally undiluted; 1cc for giants, 3/4cc for large fowl, 1/2cc for standards, 1/4cc for smaller chickens. Then you want to redose them again in 10 days. There's a 24 day withdrawal from start to finish.
Safeguard wormers can be purchased from a feed store or ordered online from Jefferslivestock.com or you can call them.
